WAIT!!!!!

Did you check that your cab can handle the ~947v put out by the P32 Space Modulator V7.6.23?????? (I think .24 may even be used now, which changes EVERYTHING!!!)
Plus, that coupled with the Flux Reactance circut may not be able to power your cab efficiantly at 4Ohms- thus not sounding good........Just a thought.;)

You may want to check with hasbeen or agedhorse first on this though.

Oh, ok. I'll check.

Yes all true, but don't forget, the Shuttle 6.0 has the Ultra Awesome-izer circuitry. So Wally should be good to go!

I just got back from Corner music, where I tried out the Shuttle 6.0 head and the 6.0-210t combo. It's really great stuff! And the really cool thing was that right beside the Genz Benz stuff, they had two of the new 5 string Fender USA Precisions. I grabbed the white one for the demo, thank you very much. :D

First off, the tube pre in the 6.0 does remind me very much of the NeoPak. I was able to get a nice range of tones, from very clean to some very musical tube breakup. The 210t is loud and punchy, and very full down to low b. I can see this combo sitting on top of a Neox112t being a really killer stack.

Then I plugged the 6.0 head into the little STL10t 1x10 extension to check it out. Very nice. I wasn't really able to get any more volume out of the single 10 than I could get with the Shuttle 3.0 head, as you might expect ... there's only so much air a single 10 can move.

I then plugged the Shuttle 3.0 head in to the single 10, since I'm very familiar with this now. Honestly, I really prefer my little 3.0's FET preamp. There's just something about it that does it for me. One caveat is that they didn't have any Neox cabs for me to try the head through. I think the 6.0 into a Neox212t would be pretty special for a bigger rig.

So, the upshot is that I didn't buy a Shuttle 6.0. It's a *very* cool head, with powerful eq and a very useable tube pre. I just like the FET stuff better. It's the warmest, most musical solid state stuff I've ever played, without sacrificing an ounce of clarity. If I want some tube-ishness, I have an EBS Multicomp with tube emulation, or for more, I have the trusty Sansamp.

So, my big gig rig will be one of two things, I think. I might keep on with what I'm doing now, which is use the Shuttle 3.0 and slave the NeoPak. I can drive the Neox212t with the NeoPak, and the 2 10's with the 3.0, for 650 watts into 2x12 + 2x10. Or, I can drive all of them with the GBE600, which is about the same output.

The other thing that is really intriguing to me is to grab an Acoustic Image Focus SA and stack the 3.0 on top of it, using the Shuttle as a preamp. 800 watts at 4 ohms, 1000 watts at 2 ohms, and about 6 pounds total. Throw that on top of my Neox212t + Neox112t stack, and we got around 900 watts into 3 x 12. Yummmmmm. ;)

Not sure yet, and it's not that important. The Shuttle 3.0 ministack (combo on top of 10" extension) will work for 90% of my gigs, and slaving the NeoPak to drive the 212 will work for the other 10%. The Focus SA would just be icing on the cake.

Back to the 6.0, though ... don't think that I disliked the head. It was scary impressive. I'm just a FET guy at heart now, I guess.

Oh, and for anyone who's looking for a dealer with 6.0's in stock ... Call JD at Corner. He has two or three left.

Cheers

From my understanding the 6.0 is pretty much sold out. Someone told me that GB made what they thought would be enough 6.0 for a year and they are pretty much gone.

Just what I heard. This is not definitive. If that is the case, GB is going to really go through the roof.

No, not a thing.
in fact, sounds like your wife and mine may be related!!!
Not to derail, but in all fairness, she has singled out two basses. One was a 1975 Alembic Long scale that was recently traded for a Tobias. The other was my Krammer upright, which she bought as a x-mas present from Barry Kolstein several years ago, bless her heart. She's a good egg.

So, I've got to admit that maybe she is right. We probably spend too much time splitting hairs over gear that essentially serves the same purpose.

Back on topic: though it may be an indication of repeated lack of wisdom, these Shuttle 6.0's are definitely interesting. I'll have to go give one a shot at the Bass Place.

well, I can see that Liam. They are different animals and must be respected for the differencs which you have said. That is why there are choices. If everybody loved the same thing there wouldn't be many things to love. You do have the 600 so you are not really hurtng for power. Very nice review.

Hey Liam.
Can you give me some idea what the sonic difference is
between the FET pre and the 6.0 pre? It would be very helpfull.

I'm awful at descriptive stuff ... But to me, the FET pre is quick, sweet and warm, is the sound I hear in my head, and just gives me a feeling I like when I play through it. The tube pre can get very close, but just can't quite give me the sound in my head, or the intangible feeling that I feel when I play through the 3.0. They're both warm and rich, but each has a different kind of warmth and richness ... I can't really describe it. Obviously, you aren't going to get the tube breakup with the FET pre.

I think this is a very personal thing, and it's really all about the feeling I get when I play, the way it feels in my gut. That's what makes it so hard to describe ... it's about feelings. Others will have the exact opposite experience from me and prefer the tube pre.

Sorry for the vague, indistinct ramblings ... it's really the best I can do.

Cheers

So, 5 guys on Talkbass buy out the whole production run?

Don't be a smart ass. LOL Go play your WTX260 ;):D

This is just what I heard; and not from the GB guys. I can't get one for a couple months.

NAMM was pretty huge for GB. A lot of people were talking about the Shuttle. That drives sales!

Thats not nice......I don't own a WTX260;):D

HEHEHE Why not? They were suppose to be the cat's meow! All 200 watts of it.

By the time company X catches up to where the industry is NOW I will be retired.

Get on the GB train man. You will not regret it. I will personally guarantee it.

Hey I have GAS for the 6.0 big time, and if there is a shortage, that will just make it worse!

The WTX260 must be Vinnie's. My light rig is EA, and the heavy is a Whappo Jr with a Walkabout. Not that the Walkabout is that heavy, but compared to the Micro300 and Shuttle 6.0, its big. (13 lbs!)

I gotta believe the Shuttle 6.0 will drive the Whappo Jr just fine. Jussst fiiiiiine. Even though it won't drive the pair of Wizzies. Have to make do with driving one at a time. Awwww.

I have numerous times stated on this forum and on Eden's forum that I am not a fan of the WTX series amps.

And I have plenty of trains!!:hyper: ask Dennis:D
