Genz Benz Streamliner, Part 10

What is up here? Musician's Friend and ZZounds state the Genz Benz streamliners are no longer available and Zzounds stated this also "(In most cases, a product is unavailable because it has been discontinued by its manufacturer.)"

How does Fender buy all these companies and not get hounded by "Federal regulators" is beyond me. When Fender buys Gibson, Taylor and Martin it will be time to give up playing music.
that's because the MI industry is still incredibly fragmented, even with Fender the big boy with lots of toys. then there is the whole MI industry is probably 1/1000th the size of other "important" industries the Feds worry about, like Autos, Telecom, Banking, IT, whatever.

Thanks but I am still in shock over the whole Fender/Genz Benz thing here. They put out a good product. If anyone here has SWR I do not mean to offend but I had an SWR 350. It was ok but not the quality of the Genz Benz. Keep in mind this is just my opinion.

The pre-Fender SWR was pretty good quality. I have had a Red Head for 17 years and it still works and sounds great.
I have 4 Genz Benz heads and all four are sweet. My GBE600 stays at church, If I am carrying two cabinets on a gig I take the ShuttleMax 12(both cabs are 4ohm), the Shuttle 6 doesn't get as much love since I got the Streamliner 900.

Once again I am completely digging my Streamliner 900! I think i may have found my "magic setting" tonight. I typically had my mid freq set at 600, right around 2 o'clock. When i use an ampeg 810 its perfect, but with my Schroeder cabs i always felt like i was fighting to add some low mids to my sound. I was always happy, this amp just kills. But tonight -
One flip of the mid freq knob over to 220 and there it was...
THUMP. Wow. It added a whole new life to my tone.
It REALLY opened up my Schro's and worked great with my playing style. This thing is a keeper for sure. I can't wait until rehearsal tomorrow!

The one thing that bothers me about the Mid selection switch is you have to have the Mid control at 2/3 or more before there is a noticable difference with setting the Mid 3 way switch.

I have had my Streamliner for over a year and I keep finding new tones that I like in it. Definitely not a "set and forget" kind of head.
I still think the Shuttlemax 9.2 and Streamliner 900 are going to be tough to beat. Great price point, light, awesome tone, great footprint, powerful, fantastic fully featured DI, and aux/headphone options.

Same... At this weekend's gigs once again had bass players in crowd come up and comment on how much they liked the Streamliner tone. Pretty much every gig now
+1. I've had a Shuttlemaz 9.2 as my main gigging amp for several years and picked up a Streamliner recently as a backup/different flavor. Still investigating the intricacies of the Streamliner, but couldn't be happier with the pair. Great heads!
I have had a 600 for a couple years and recently grabbed a 6.2 when they went on sale recently. I think they are amazing amps. The shuttle is great for transparency and the streamliner is perfect for that old school tube warmth. Very different preamps.
Count me in on this recent thread direction. I started with a Shuttle 6.0, went to a Streamliner 600 then a 900. At that point I decided to see what else was out there. Tried a Mesa Walkabout (great amp but not enough power), EA 800 (too sterile), a Monique preamp with Crest power amp - sold it and now back to the Streamliner. Just ordered a Shuttle 6.2 for practice and backup.
I went a similar route.. Only I went 6.0, 9.0 , 900 and then a 6.0 Max as a backup .. then I replaced that with a 9.2 Max.. I laugh at myself becausew when I first came here and saw a 6.0 Max I said to myself .. that thing has waaay too many knobs.. but it is actually a great head.
I love that 900 though. I can't see myself ever selling it unless I can just no longer play.

+1. Streamliner for gigs with my P bass and the Shuttlemax 9.2 with the Lakland 5-string. Both through AE410 or AE210 depending on size of venue and band I'm playing with. Lately it's been tough to beat the 5er with the 9.2 and 410 for versatility.
