Genz Benz Streamliner, Part 10

It’s possible that it’s a tube but it could be other things as well. Tube failures in Shuttles and Streamliners is fairly rare however.

There is a still factory flat rate service program for your amp, message me and I will get you the necessary information.

I'm sure @agedhorse or @Jeff Genzler will be along shortly & have good advice.

It may be very simple, you could try inserting a jack gently into the effects loop receive socket several times, if there is a contact issue with the switching jack, this may help (or at least help you identify what needs to be attended to - do not just douse it with contact spray, you can screw up other things, ask agedhorse what would be best if this is the issue). Or connect the two without effects in between.

Streamliner Manual:
The effects "loop" contains a "normal switch" in the receive jack that interrupts the signal path when a plug is inserted into the receive jack.

Switching sockets often develop contact issues with time, even if not used.

Welcome to to the Streamilner faction, I hope you can get it sorted quickly, they really are very special wonderful amps.

I love how you two are engaged here on the repair of a 10 year old amp. I will not spray anything and will try the cable. If that doesn’t work, I’ll likely send it off for repair per @agedhorse

To be clear @Jeff Genzler, I am inserting a cable into the effects out first and then to the effects in? While the power is on, or off? Repeatedly?

I had to play a show with my backup amp last night. Would much rather have had my Streamliner so I’m hoping to get it resolved soon

OFF, always OFF. Since you are asking this question, perhaps only try the patch cable between the EFX send and return, turn your Master Volume off, turn on the amp, and slowly turn up your Master Volume and see if you have a signal from the plugged in bass connected to the normal amp input jack.

Always amp OFF when connecting/disconnecting the EFX (to avoid a loud pop to your speaker). If that functions, it could offer you a bit of play time before sending it in.... but if you are relying on the amp for gigs, you probably should do so anyways.

That sounds like a very good idea. Mine is fine and has 0 issues, but if I were Stateside and did not have to ship across the pond, I would probably send it in just for an agedhorse checkup.Except for swapping a tube, I do not and refuse to work on class-D amps (only the pre amp has a tube section on the Streamliner), and with this amp, there are no better hands for that than agedhorse's.

Mr Genzler called me up and talked me into the 115, I had 2 of the BA210-3 cabs, sold one and bought one direct from him, the 210 with the 115 is a perfect match, mids with the 210 and low bass with 115, with his gen2 series I am betting even better! about the closes I have got to the BA cabs is using the Mesa Subs, the GK NEOs are good put not near the others.
Lets put it this way my brother borrowed my cabs back in Nov, they still are not back yet, he has a practice setup studio in his home and himself and others cant get over how great they sound.

Hahah I’m like the opposite of you! I got 2 115 series 1 when they were fairly new I think an while they are super amazing an get more cut in higher frequencies then msot 15” I bet Jeff also has been cool an talked me into going with a 2x10+the 15” I have I think it’ll be amazing. Just need to sell off the extra 15! I would take series 1 2x10 ona deal but I’m only wantin to o move to this cause I need more cut an just growl I think you can get what I mean. I’m
Excited for when I finally get it the series 2 seem even more wired in for the mid an highs so I’m with you there!

Hey Streamliner folks...

Did I read once that it would be fine to use the 'tuner out' on the back of my Streamliner to send a signal to a DI box - or more specifically, a DI/preamp box (think ToneHammer, SansAmp, etc).

The goal here is to have my stage sound - and a completely separate signal to send to the PA.

Anything I'm not thinking about, or any potential problems with this set-up?

Yes, this will work fine but the signal does not mute.

Thought I would report back...
Last gig I used my Streamliner and 212 cab. Used the tuner out to run to a Broughton Messenger DI.

Worked out great - I was able to really dial in my sound as it's coming out of the mains (QSC subs and tops) from my side of the stage. Had HPF/LPF on, and a tiny mid cut. Also, easy volume control. Muted the amp and Messenger at the same time, so no issues there.

Very cool for easily creating two distinct signal paths.

I'd like to hear your thoughts on how the two stack up.

I tried the D800 for a very short time - I had been using an Aguilar TH for years, and think my ears were really tuned to that sound. The D800 was very different, and didn't sit right with me at the time.

I've been using the Streamliner for years now, and couldn't be happier.
