LOL! I'm just sitting back with my bowl of popcorn on this one. :D

I made a few comments about Eublet's first graphs, and I thought that the changes he made resulted in much more useful information. So, I'm happy (and I believe more well-informed about the "inherent voicing" of the Streamliner than I was before). Other folks have stated their opinions, and that's fine too. :cool:

And while I do offer a TB discount, it is not usable in any situation regarding another TBer (for conflict of interest reasons). ;)

Oh nice! You gotta love it. Using a conflict of interest to avoid a discount! That's one I'll have to remember.

In theory, I should finally have one on loan to play with next week. I'm still very much looking forward to the chance to really hear one first hand. I so wish I'd had more of a clue at NAMM so I coulda' done more there. Oh well. :)

The first graph below is an EQ setting where I tried to get the Streamliner to scope as flat as possible. I could not ever get a flat reading myself, though I must have tried a couple dozen different things at least. Not bad, though there is still a slight dip in the mids around 2k. Some of you will say I should have boosted mids at 2.5k to compensate. I tried, but that also meant I was no longer boosting mids at 600 hz, so the results was less flat in the end if I tried that. (Refer back to the 2500 graph above).

This second graph below is the same as the one above, but with a 3rd potentially flat setting plotted. It get's the low-mids down a little flatter, but at the expense of more low-end roll off. Once you drop the bass knob under 9 o'clock, it really starts pulling out a lot of those lows and the sound gets thinner very quickly. Not a bad thing, but most wouldn't consider anything under 9 on bass to sound flat, though it does sound good.

The curves would get even more meaningful when overlaying them with cab response curve, 'cause what we hear is the actual composite. Again, thanks for this ! :)

As one of the people who have commented on the mid dips myself, keep in mind at least a few people have commented on ways to manipulate the EQ to pretty effectively even it out, and, it also doesn't seem to be an issue at all if you have a relatively mid-forward bass.

Just keep in mind... this is a web forum... don't get unnecessarily spun up about commentary. :)

Like I said, I'm only a little bit worried, I'm used to a more mid forward sound, but I'm really liking what I hear in clips of these, and have been wanting a more tubey sounding amp, espcially one that'll get gritty.

I'd not be the slightest bit worried about ordering one and seeing, except I'd have to order one from overseas.

Only for folks with the same cab, and it introduces a whole lot of variables when trying to do that, such as environment, mic used, mic placement, etc. I just wanted to show what the preamplifier was doing.

I transitioned from a Shuttlemax as well which is a killer head! There was a definite learning curve involved and I was really on the fence for a while. But, I pulled the sticker off the top last night so I plan to own both! If I had to choose one or the other now, I would favor the Streamliner. Cheers!

Direct Out Review... about time

Shootout vs the Eden Navigator PRE-EQ !!

Verdict: Sounds the same! DUH! The SL900 is a little quieter noise wise & a little hotter ALTHOUGH with the Eden the direct output volume is in play unlike the SL.

Tone: Only 1/6 of the "tubes" are in play (1/2 of 1 of the 3 tubes) is Pre-EQ
That makes the tone very solid state like & almost identical to the Eden which I believe is the same 1/2 of 1 tube pre-EQ... regardless the tone from the DI is VERY different than what would come out of your cab with the EQ at noon.

If fact, it would take EXTREME EQ changes to get a matching cab and DI tone. We're talking bass below 9, mids at 2.5K & boosted & treble up (Of course the rest would depend on your cabs) but this is where you would start. Just remember what you hear on stage is going to be very different than whats going out the direct... with the Streamliner EQ near Flat The Direct out is MUCH more of a "Shuttlemax" tone than a Streamliner tone. I'd imagine the Shuttlemax flat would represent the direct out tone of the Streamliner.

Does that bother me? No... Its great to have but the Shuttlemax PreEQ or Streamliner PostEQ tones. I know where I want my bass EQ to be to sound good to the P.A & then I do my backline to taste. If I need the warmth (My basses don't naturally have) I can go post EQ. Of course my post EQ tone with the Streamliner will be much more warm than the Eden just as it is through the cabs.

Great direct out, quiet is key :hyper:
