Genz-Benz Streamliner Part 6

Just received and turned on my new Streamliner 900 from a reputable dealer...the volume was up a tad and the amp popped several times and a puff of smoke came out of the side. DOA...won't turn on. I haven't read all of the threads....has anyone else experienced this? So bummed.

Give Jeff a call at the factory and he will get it sorted out for you. Jeff will want that unit back so that we can analyze it, we see so few back with any problem that we look very closely at each one that we do see.

Thanks, I'm sure it will be rectified. I've had a Shuttle 6 and 9 for a long while with no incidents. I have tremendous respect for GB amps. Just bummed since I paid more for it to be delivered today. You all know how it goes. Wanted to give it a major welcoming this weekend.

Tried turning it on again, and now the blue and red lights just flicker intermittently...like a computer booting up or something.

maybe? A TBer had what he felt was a loose power cord connector issue, not sure if he resolved that.

When I won my STM-900 on Ebay, I sent a couple messages with payment for seller to "please pack the amp very well" as some buyers had recieved their amps with issues. They packed the new amp with original sealed GB box into a second very well padded box, this mighta made a difference.

TO OP, does the packing box looked badly dinged up? Anything else look outta sorts? Pls keep us posted on your outcome. Its a great amp worth replacing for sure. And as ALWAYS, with most any of their gear, new or used, GB has your back.

The dealer was able to push you power cord in and seat it, as we had talked about in my post about the topic.

* Push it until you think it won't go any further, and then push it again....FIRMLY.

We will send out a replacement on Monday.....overnight, so you can be up and running on Tuesday. Call the shop on Monday: 480-941-0705 and tell them that Roger sent you.

Nobody else has experienced this. We've had less than five DOA's...or issues...probably three.

The only ones I can remember were:
* bad internal fuse (2X)
* LED's in oval window didn't light

I spoke to my dealer on Thursday and mentioned I had pushed it in as hard as I could, literally brute force, then hoped it had solved it. It still did the same thing...so I'm guessing when they tested the lead was resting on the back of a cab and was fine because of that support. I tried all ways if getting it to work but still the slightest nudge and it disconnected.

I just can't risk this happening at a gig, plus the pop through the cab wasn't so great. My LM3 I sold for this never did anything like that, so I'm guessing you can see why I'm a bit nervous about it, The main thing I noticed was the housing for the power cord/power switch moved in the chassis, and the other UK owners I spoke to didn't have this.

My dealer stated it is being replaced still, is this correct?

correct...they will replace. They gave it a thorough check though....seated the cord firmly, and have had zero issues with it. This wasn't a case of the back of the cab supporting it. They seated the cord....tried jiggling it, shaking the amp....no issues.

Still though, we want you happy so you'll get a new amp. We never have a problem disclosing when there is a problem. I just don't want people on a forum thinking there is an issue where there isn't. On the net, one issue weighs like a hundred.

we'll "pick it up" via a call tag. So, we'll pay the shipping of course.

We'll overnight a replacement though before we get your unit back to minimize your hassle and time without the amp.

I humbly apologize for this. I'm really curious to find out what happened though. Smoke....holy cow.:eek:
