I run my 900 pretty flat with Upright Bass.
I am in !! I just got my S900, I am using an epifani ps112 and P with flats, fantastic combination, I will use it tomorrow at church with an Aguilar S410 and a JO with chi-sonics. Although the stramliner is a different animal that the shuttle, I found that they are the same in the power department, they are no as loud as you can think for a 500@ 8ohms, many amps will get louder without pushing the amp so far, Markbass and Hartke come to my mind, however I am digging this amp so far, tomorrow after Sunday service I will know if I should buy a gig bag or put it back in its box and send it back to the dealer for a refund.
Im really confused now.
I did a gig tonight that was supposed t be my last with my 600 as im swapping it for a MarkBass F1. Ive not been getting on with the 600 so the F1 seems ideal.
I love the F1 and did two sets with it but just for fun i plugged the 600 in for the last set.
Yep, it sounded fantastic. This is its 5th gig and for the first time i really enjoyed it.
It was in a large room with a very high ceiling and we were on a permanent stage. The F1 seemed to struggle a bit although i did get a good tone (no sound check tonight).
I had all the knobs flat on the 600 and it just seemed to work. I still cant get over how punchy the higher notes sound sound.
I know there are some songs the F1 wil be much better on, but our last set was quite rocky and the 600 was just shining.
One more gig tomorrow and i have to decide what to do.

+1 With a STM600 and an F1 you'd have both ends of the spectrum covered with two good lightweight options.
Yeah, both would be nice. Im leaning more to keeping the 600 for now as im selling my SA450. I could then buy the F1.
Im to not sure i really want to be using two heads at gigs though but i guess i could use one as a back up.
I didnt plug the BDDI in last night, that might help even things up and push the F1 to first place.

I'm a couple of nights into a short tour with a band playing folky, rocky, countryish, bluesy material. Ive brought my 900, HS210 and my J.
The first night was in a medium-sized hall (100 people) with no PA support, so it was backline only. We're pretty controlled volume-wise, and the audience were pretty attentive, so we got away with it. I rolled off the low and pushed the low mids at 220. That allowed me to drive the cab harder without pushing the limits of the box. It sounded great, great great. Round, fat , responsive and defined notes, even from top-to-bottom.
Last night was a similar hall, with a 'proper' PA. Again, we kept the stage volume down, ant this time I pushed 600mhz to send a bit more clarity to the PA via the DI. The sound guy said the DI was great.. Very clean and clear.
I recorded this gig from the hall with a Zoom H2. Listening back, it's exactly what I was hoping... I'll pop a clip up when I eventually get home.

Sounds like its really working out for you. I think my problem is my cab but as ive said, i cant afford to change that at the moment and i would rather not.
Funny thing is my band mates, who never mention my tone etc, have said over the last few gigs they thought it sounded good. Now this is in response to me telling them im thinking of getting rid of it so its not quite unsolicited, but nice to hear.
Im thinking of trying my Jazz tonight but as its a 3 hours gig, and my my Jazz has a P neck on it im not so sure.
A bit off topic but how do you record your gigs? I use a Roland R-09HR digital recorder, strapped to my singers mic stand. This works really well as it picks the vocals up clearly from the monitor just in front of the stand, and we get a nice stereo spread from the backline.
Id like to get a recording form the audience but we dont travel with anyone who isnt in the band and i dont want to risk leaving it somewhere that it might get moved or removed.

Last night it was an H2, dead centre on a table at the front. We had a couple of friends at the gig so they babysat it for us...
Has anyone had issues with their STL buzzing or humming? When I turn the volume up to about 11 o'clock it begins to buzz and it gets louder as I turn up the volume. It's not the bass as I checked it with my active Lakland 55-02 and my passive Hamer Cruise bass. I've also tried different electrical sockets.
Initially I noticed it while using headphones but when I plugged it into my amp it was very noticeable. For some reason the buzz changes when I dime the mids either full bore or almost off. CHanging the bass or treble settings doesn't impact the noise though.
I'll probably email GB on Tuesday about it.

Well I got tired of reading this thread and pulled the trigger. Bought the STM 900, from ZZ Sound, they beat an EBay authorized GB dealer and gave me 25% off, shipped for $743.95 , couldn't pass it up.

I pulled the trigger on one myself Friday. I do love my Shuttle 9.0 but the thought of bigger and wider enticed me.
They do seem to be coming down on price.
I won my on Ebay for $685 brand new shipped from "Fender Musical" in Ontario CA.
I wasn't really looking yet but I saw that one was closing in 2 hours starting bid was $685 so I put a bid on it as I was running out the door fully expecting to be out bid but low and behold when I got home later that night I was the winner with one bid.
I doubt that they will be starting actions that low any more.

Unplug your bass cable from the input jack on the amp. If the noise goes away, it's possible that you have a bad/damaged cable or the noise is being generated in the bass(es).
You can PM me and I'll walk you through some simple troubleshooting to narrow down where the problem may be.
