Well, i think my SL600 has finally won me over.
As i posted earlier im trying to decide what to go for, keep my SL600 or swap it for a F1.
After two really good gigs this weekend, using both heads i have to admit my SL600 has been fantastic.
This is the first weekend ive actually enjoyed using it and now i think im going to keep it.
We gigged last night in a Marquee, and without PA support my tone was so full and deep , i was really surprised my cab could even produce lows like this. They weren't uncontrollable, but tight and my tone had a lot of girth to it.
To be honest the F1 also worked really well, and while it sounded great i think the SL600 won out.
Im going to give my SL600 a few more gigs but i think im now sold, at least for now.
I do plan on buying a F1 as soon as i can though but thats more as a back up.

Cheers Gareth. i have no idea why all of a sudden its working for me but this weekend has been a very satisfying two days.
I still want to do more gigs with it but for now im very happy with the tone, although i am going to get a F1 as well, for the more moder tones.

Just as an update to this thread. You never see folks talk about reliability much unless there is a problem.


My Streamliner 900 has not hiccuped yet in the least. In however many months I've had it.

For giggles I'm using a heavy duty power cord with mine (I always do) and a set of very high quality tubes (as you all have seen).

Not even a studder; just pure, warm, round, notes.

Like my dear Shuttle 9.0 this amp is definitely a keeper. No chances of GAS getting between me and my two Genz Benz amps.

Yes you can offer a similar amp with a can opener and an espresso machine built in, that weighs two ounces or something but I can not see much improvement from here.

Just a report on how the Streamliner is doing.

I was concerned when I read some of those posts of those with issues of their 9-hunertz. But I knew GB would take care of them; and that would happen without a hiccup.

I can't believe I got my, new in the box, with no other bids on Ebay a few weeks ago and that was at a very good price. I know its' not the best mix with my UL410, tho I still use it like that sometimes. But its pretty nice with my Neox 212T and I'll know soon how it plays with my coming soon TB153.

But I'm still keeping my Neopak *2 ohm modded. I'm putting Epi cabs, Markbass heads, basses up for sale that I just don't use or need anymore but I just can't get myself to sell off my Neopak. And just can't sell my B1500 head....but not for lack of trying.

So yeah no issues with my few weeks old 900 either. Cool.

I did a session yesterday in Austin for a band from the 70s -80s Point Blank. They are doing a single...... They had a few hits in the day... One was "Oh Nichol".. Great guys. .Great guitar players !!!
I used my Streamliner 900 into their svt 810 and the engineer mic'd it with a D12 and a old Neuman U87... Also ran my REDDI DI... Sounded huge...
Used my Sadowsky P5 and ran bass about 11 o'clock. Mids at 2 o'clock Freq at 2.5k and Treble at about 2 o'clock...
Mics and DI went into API preamps to Protools...
Ill be going to Europe tour with them next month and bringing the ShuttleMAx12 with me.. Will backline cabs.. The only reason i will bring the MAX 12 and not the streamliner is i will have two 810s and need to run two 4 ohm cabs.. Maybe a Streamliner 1800 someday ???
But the Streamliner worked great in a recording situation with an engineer that knows how to work his gear...

Just a quick note regarding my past post about there being a "buzz." I contacted AgedHorse about it and he gave me a few tips to figure out what might be causing this. Well after doing one test that confirmed it was the amp I exchanged another pm with Andy and when I went back to the amp the buzzing had stopped. Weird but I'm not complaining. Anyways, Andy had suggested I call Scott at the GB shop and I spoke with him about the issue I had been having. He mentioned that it sounds like a tube and from my description the third one at that. An offer was made to send out a new tube but I have chosen to leave it alone at this point and see what happens.
While I was a little disappointed that this issue came up, I was quite fine knowing that Genz Benz is a company that stands by their product and that with little hassle the problem could be fixed.
This amp is great and I'm super happy with everything about it.

Bit late to the party, but as they say,,, better late than never.
Shipment received today and played thru the SL900 for first time tonight at prax. Pushing an EBMM Bongo strung with tapewounds thru a single UberQuad. Tone was fat, warm, massive, but I don't know if it was the hot 18v signal, but once I started pushing hard on some of the more rockin tunes we do, I started clipping pretty regularly. For sure, I will learn how to tweak this amp (and I am also sure different basses respond differently), and I wasn't too concerned about it, just loving the fat, saturated tone coming out of the thing. I have been playing Markbass for more than 2 years before the SL, and I may have been converted. More time will tell. Not quitting my day job, or selling the MB just yet. Plus, I can always use the LittleMark for the more intimate acoustic and jazz gigs, and leave the SL for rock lobster duty.

And the Gator bag (12 X 12 X 5) fit like it was made for it. I didn't have time for pics, but I'll post some eventually.

As other people have mentioned, don't be afraid of extreme settings- I've yet to find a setting that causes excessive hiss, even with the preamp volume up most of the way, and the input gain almost off.

You can go from quick and bright, to thick and compressed, just by playing with the gain and preamp volume. It's almost like having a secondary set of tone controls...

I was in the studio this past weekend with my band, and we were doing ghost tracks so I wasn't super AR about my settings. In fact, I dindn't even bother to bring in my cab, just went post EQ direct. I had bass about 11, mids at 3, treble at noon, with pre-amp volume at 11 and drive at about 2 just to get a little grit.

The tone i got was just sweet, and with a Dingwall ABII-5 set nearly flat and a Dolphin Pro I-4 set nearly flat slight favor to the neck pup, the growl was perfect for what we are doing these days. What's really wild to me is we do everything from heavy and angry to light and poppy, and the tone just sat in the mix perfectly no matter the style.

I have absolutely zero GAS for amps anymore. I do have some slight GAS for a smaller cab for small gigs and studio work, like for an Uber Quad or maybe an Uber 115, but that's pretty much it.

Now basses, that's another thing altogether. I love my basses and have no plans to unload either of them, BUT, I wouldn't mind adding to them soon!

I did the same as you .. just cut some scratch trax with streamliner DI out a week or so ago... I should have tun it Post EQ because it does sound sweet.. but as a straight Pre EQ out it is as good as the countryman etc... Post Eq is another ball of wax... sounds like a hi dollar Preamp..

Can't wait to hear the final mix!

I bet an Uber 210 with 115 would make a righteous modular rig. Then again, I do love the idea of the 3D sound of the Quad times 2! Decisions, decisions.........

IME, except as it relates to projection (some cabs do a better job of projecting sound in a seemingly omni-directional manner), the 3D-ness that I hear with certain preamps (for instance) pretty much goes out the window in a typical rock gig senario.

Just something more to consider in your tone quest.
I think an Uber115/Uber210 would be nice as well!

I really like the Uber 115 for what i do.. It is the Only 115 can that i like after playing many... I used an Old Deep Bag End S15B-D many years ago.. not the little cube one that its out these days.. and this Uber 115 does that well .. and its 25 pounds lighter..
I am going to get another one .. It handles a gig with two guitar players using fairly loud combos... But these guys know how to mix themselves..
With the tweeter at about 1 oclock and a bass with new strings it stays crisp enough for my taste without me wishing i had more. And it goes low enough but it is not boomy...
If you want to get more mids an Uber210 is pretty killer from what i have been told... I have only tried the Uber410 and it is stout! A pair of Uber 210s would be a nice modular rig... i would think if you want a little more growl, maybe the 210 or a pair of them... if you want more meat then perhaps the Uber 115 would do...

I agree.. I would put money on it that an Uber115 and Uber210 would be one nice rig...
I think the cabs would compliment each other well too tonally and dB wise too.
