Genz Streamliner 900 and TC RH450 Comparison

What seems odd to me is that, after the first head died, and GB decided to overnight, Saturday delivery another one, ( not cheap, folks ! ) they did'nt make sure that the replacement head had no issues, so that, if it got to Ken as not functioning, they could almost narrow it down to a shipping/packaging issue. :hiding:

I'm betting that they checked it out prior.
And for all we know, the failure that Ken had may make their shipping/QC or whatever better for everyone.

As Ken stated, he will get back in to a SL one day.

I just think if you need the kind of power (900 watts) the Streamliner has to offer then the TC amp is automaticly out of the running. And yes both the Streamliner 900 and Shuttle9.0 are definitely pushing 900 watts. Easily half a PLX 1804.

That has not been my experience, I used to use on half of a PLX2402 for my loud rigs and went to a Shuttle 9.0, the wattage does not feel the same to me. I dig the Genz Benz though, and have a Streamliner 900 on the way.

Hmm, just listened to the vids. Lovely buttery tone.

Im very interested to what GB say about the two DOA units. I dont want to buy one and then see a newer/updated version with a tweak come out after ive bought it (I doubt this is the case, I can guess it was tested to hell and back!).

Awaiting the results... :)

Genz field tests in real world applications the prototypes of their amps.. Pretty much anything that can happen has been gone over... but sure anything is possible with any product by any company at anytime... especially after UPS goons get to an item.. not so much the local guys but the folks in the depots where they hand off to another..

I have seen in the past, Genz offering free updates on older amps ( the Neo Pak 3.5 ) amp from 4 ohm to 2 ohm LOAD compliance for free.
And they even did the update for people that bought the amp second hand.. There is a thread about that somewhere.
Many of those Neo Pak3.5s are still gigging... I think they were the precursor to the Shuttle series.. Similar but with SMPS and Class AB poweramp instead of Class D

Ken still has both heads in his posession for the moment. Genz-Benz has a call tag issued to get them picked up and returned, but they haven't had the opportunity to check them out in person yet.

And, yeah, Jeff Genzler just told me that he personally played that second head 5 different times before it shipped. No doubt it worked when it left AZ, but the gods of shipping were angry for whatever reason...

The first one was not DOA... it was working... Dont have results on what could have happened yet.

No probs. The only reason I ask is there are a few UK players after this, so any issues are more difficult this end. If we were guaranteed new units if they updated it or indeed the unit failed, id probably go for it. The videos are great, by both Ed and Ken.

I know exactly what you mean.

I've put my money down on one, but I'm not *too* rattled following Ken's experiences because I have a lot of faith in GB and their customer service. Plus, a few more TB'ers will chime in with their experiences before they land in the UK.

We'll see!

When I bought a Markbass LMII (brand new to the states), it worked fine for a couple months then died. They had it repaired ...and it died again shortly thereafter. Customer service was exceptional and they replaced it with a brand new unit. I could have tossed in the towel and given up on it. But I didn't. I have since done hundreds of gigs and rehearsals with that amp over the past few years. Point being; sh&t happens, but it doesn't mean they are all bad or unreliable.

PS: My post is not meant to discredit or dispute Ken's decision whatsoever. I respect him immensely and support him fully. Just saying; a reputable builder like GB will make it right. That has been my experience albeit with another brand. I fully expect GB will figure it out and make it right. That simple.

I won't hesitate to check out the SL900 with my AE410 Cab ..and If it blows me away, I won't hesitate to put it on my short list.
