that's kind of our thinking. It is VERY easy for a cabinet builder to get too many items in their product line. Even as it is, we have a difficult time getting dealers to stock even a core representation of our line.

If we built an Uber1x12, you wouldn't be able to go play one anyway. Dealer: Nope, we don't have that but, we can get it for you. :(

Serious question guys and I don't mean to barg in on the party and sound like a jerk or uneducated...

After reading through this thread, checking out the GB website and visiting online retailers.....

What I see among other things is a 50lb 2x10 neo cabinet that costs almost $900.

What am I missing?

The dual 112's are cool but the Uber212 is special
Dual 112's push a lot of lowend and really need to careful because they can get a bit consuming in the bottom if you don't watch it. The Uber212 is like the best of both worlds... the lowend of dual 112's with the focus of the neoX212. So you get a fat non neo tone

it depends on perspective. A cabinet, if properly designed, is a lot more than a box. And in a properly designed system, you aren't talking about off the shelf speakers either.

Lastly, customer service. This isn't meant to be defensive or justifying our price or anything....I'm being sincere: if a person wants "affordable" and can go with something more generic and not worry too much about service, there are certainly lots of alternatives out there. Performance wise: I think with a picture on the internet, they all seem like boxes with drivers in them. With product at this price point, a play test is very important.

Lastly, I can't justify how expensive our stuff is....the musician has to. It either represents a good price/performance ratio to them and hits what is important to them, or it doesn't.

I hope this comes off as a respectful, sincere answer....it is meant to be.

Sure, thanks for the response. I didn't mean to put you on the spot in any way. But another question...

The price doesn't suprise me at all, that is in line with other well made cabinets (Bergantino, Epifani, EA etc)... What did suprise me is that the weight on these neo loaded cabinets are more in line with traditional ceramic loaded cabinets.

As it shakes out popular Neo's I mentioned above are in a rough range of-

1x12 30lbs or less
2x10 35-40lbs
2x12 around 50lbs
4x10 around 60lbs

So if I am going to spend the same money and carry around a heavier box, these cabs have to just kill in the tone department right?

EDIT - This is in regard to the UBER series only. I am Sorry I see the Shuttle series cabs are in those ranges as well. Any thought on a 2x12 or 4x10 in the Shuttle style?

ahh...I see what you're getting at. Well, they are certainly heavier than say an Epi UL 2x10. Our Shuttle 2x10 though, is the same weight as the Epi.

We wanted more punch and growl on our Uber series...more than what we thought was already available on the market and more than what our Shuttle cabs offers too...which put weight and size at a premium. That mean stiffer ply (with more plys) and bracing and such.

Our Uber 4x10 weighs in at 72 pounds, compared with another "boutique" brand, ceramic 4x10, which weighs in at 98 lbs. So, I think the customer is getting a lighter weight cab, that handles more power. A highly respected, iconic brand, ceramic 4x10 on the market weighs in at 110 pounds.

oh...PS, none of this puts me on the spot...but thanks. We're pretty transparent here...I often offer up compliments to the competition and I try to be as objective about our own gear as possible.

I'm a bassist first and the Genz guy second. :)

I couldn't agree more with this comment Roger. My GB810T-UB weighs 120 lbs. It handles almost twice the power as my previous 610 and weighs 16lbs less than it did as well. Plus the name Genz-Benz stands for quality IMO.

As for tone, the 810T-UB has got the mid punch and growl that my previous ceramic driver cabinet lacked and it handles everything that my EBMM 5 string basses and GBE-1200 can throw at it. I couldn't be more happier with it.

If I ever feel the need for a 2x12 cabinet, I won't hesitate to buy a 212UBer.

This actually came about because of Randy Jackson. When he was at our shop, we tried all sorts of cab configurations. What he ended up liking was our Neox-212T on its side, with our Uber 4x10 stacked on top of it.

He also wanted his rig to look "modern-retro" So, we custom built him a 4x10/2x12 cab in the format of an 8x10.

This also came about because people said they liked our Neox line but they wished it stacked with our 4x10"s. Other's, we know, like the column format of our NeoX, which sell very well. So, the Neox and the Uber series will both stay in the line.

With the intro of our Shuttle series, we sold twice as many cabs in six months as we did ALL the previous years...and most of these, were NeoX cabs. I think most of our Shuttle players will still use these cabs.

Damn, I wish I were somebody. I'd love to have a cab with that 4x10/2x12 configuration. :mad:
