I understand the question about racks... I don't use one for my bass gear but do use one for my acoustic rig.

For that rig I have a Dtar Solstice preamp and a Sunrise stereo buffer mounted onto a shelf - I removed the feet from the Sunrise and used those holes to bolt onto the shelf and the mounting hole of the Solstice. The reason for the rack is that I also have a rack mount compressor and digital effects unit as well. It was easier to consolidate everything into a rich than to carry them separately or replace everything and put together a pedal board. Still, the rack is big and heavy and expensive. Sounds great though.

Bottom line is that individual situations may call for individual solutions.

For mounting the MG800, you could remove the bolts/screws in the feet, replace them with slightly longer versions and use those holes to connect to a shelf. Leave the feet in place and you'll still have the air flow underneath...

If I can interrupt the rack discussion for a moment and ask - for those of you with the 350 Combo - do you find yourself toting the full combo in the Genzler padded carry bag - or separate them into carry bag and cab? I'm looking to move into the 350 for smaller situations and wonder about opinions on weight (on shoulder), form factor and ease of wrangling? Seems like it would be an individual user choice and loved the G-B Shuttle series for that reason.

I just grab mine by the handle on the cab and go. No bag at all. Leave the head mounted. Quick and easy. I have simple gigs where I just take my stuff (in one trip usually) in my vehicle. I only use an amp for maybe 6-8 gigs a year. I'm usually DI/IEM.

I bought the carry bag... it is really impressive but I have not used it once. I find it large and cumbersome. So... I leave the head and cab separate and carry them that way. I haven't picked up a cover for the separate cab but will one of these days. I have a catch-all that I use for the head and cables...

Well, just to show my solidarity, pun intended, I just bought the Apache from Harbor Freight. I chose the 4800 because it's large enough to hold the GK MB800 Fusion, which has a 2 1/2'' longer profile over the MG800. The smaller Apache is just large enough for the MG800 and the power cord.
I think I'm going to like this case, and I'm sure it's road ready!

So far I've been transporting the combo in the carry bag. It's a bit awkward to carry because the weight is out away from your body. You do get the advantage of leaving the head attached to the cabinet, and the bag has an extra pocket for storing cables and such. I have the cover for the separate BA10-2 cabinets, and it's a much easier carry than the combo bag. I think I might try each cabinet in the cabinet covers and put the MG350 in the pocket of my bass bag (or in the MG350 carry bag).

I forgot to mention - a right-angle power cord is a good idea when putting small amps into briefcase style cases - so you can leave the cord attached....Monoprice has’em for cheap!

Now that I don't have to transport cabinets to and from my church gig, I bought speaker cables and an a power cable and I just leave those in place. All I have to do is carry in my bass and this Apache case with my amp and plug in. I might miss my carry-on with wheels and extendable handle, though!!

When running three cabs one output of the 350 goes to a cab 1, then another to cab 2, and from there connect one of the previous cabs to the third cabinet, yes? Switch to 2ohms and done. Seems the only way to do it but want to be sure.

Three 8 ohm cabs wired in parallel will be 2.67 ohms. You can connect them by daisy chaining the cabs from one speaker output on the amp (amp > cab1, cab1 > cab2, cab2 > cab3) OR daisy chain two cabs from one amp output and one cab from the other. The speaker outs on the amp are wired parallel so that's why this works.

I was just referring to what Modulus 96 was stating, such that amp to cab1 to cab2 to cab3 is not the only way to run three 8ohm cabinets from one bass amp that can handle that load.

I've got kind of an odd question. I just bought a line 6 hx stomp, and I was wondering if it would make sense to use it with the cab models into the genzler amp and cab. I know that's like a cab into a cab, but since the genzler cabs are pretty hi fi, I thought it might work. Of course, when it comes I'll listen to it, but I just thought I'd see what you guys thought, while I wait.

My band has been doing headphone practices and I LOVE it. I miss not having my Genzler gear but the quiet practice is just great. I can hear my bass and vocals and turn down all the stuff I don't care about much (like everything else, right?). We use a Zoom LiveTrack L-12 and it is an amazing value. Can't recommend it enough.

And this is why I want a Genzler DI/Pre. Going to practice means just bringing a bass. Everything else stays. So nice. And my hearing is thanking me. Even though my 800 and 2x12-3 can keep up with the Marshall and the Twin and the cymbals with ease, it's brutal on the head. Guitar players and drummers...am I right?

Question: does anyone have a 10-2 stacked on top of either a single 12-3 or two 12-3s? Can it even be heard? I'm thinking of a 10-2 or 350/10 combo but wonder if the 10 would have any use outside of small gigs/practice for me.

It really depends on what cab IR you use. I'm sure most of them would be fine. Personally, I wouldn't run it like that. I'd try to route the signal so that the the output with the cab sim goes to FOH and the output without the cab sim goes to my amp. This mainly applies if you are gigging, if you're not, then run it however makes you happy!

Question: does anyone have a 10-2 stacked on top of either a single 12-3 or two 12-3s? Can it even be heard? I'm thinking of a 10-2 or 350/10 combo but wonder if the 10 would have any use outside of small gigs/practice for me.

I use the combo on top of a single 12-3 and it's worked well for full volume practices. If I understand the question the two cabinets blend to my tinitus ears, no picking them out. I just know that the 12 provides the oomph that a single 10 didn't do for me. My second 12-3 came in today and i expect good things from all three.

I used to wonder if I would need to upgrade to an mg800 or other more powerful amp but the added cabinetry makes me think not. And anyway I have another very loud and heavy rig for the larger stages if needed.

Several of us have used the MG350 combo on top of the BA12-3. I posted a short gig review on this set up a few pages back. In summary, 1) the MG350 head is much louder than you would expect for the power rating and 2) the cabinets blend very well, with the BA10-2 adding some clarity and the BA12-3 providing the solid foundation.

A Genzler DI would be great but for now - you could still bring the head as a DI... Messenger bag can hold an extra cable or a pedal or two (managed to put a zoom B3N in there).
