has anybody had covers made for the BA10-2 other than the Genzler OEM ones?

My wife who is a seamstress and upholsterer has always custom made covers for all of my cabs...all the way up to the Ampeg Fridge. She made a proto type cover for the original BA 12-3 and made 2 padded covers for my 2 BA 12-3s. I hadn’t bought a BA 10-2 yet.

My band has been doing headphone practices and I LOVE it. I miss not having my Genzler gear but the quiet practice is just great. I can hear my bass and vocals and turn down all the stuff I don't care about much (like everything else, right?). We use a Zoom LiveTrack L-12 and it is an amazing value. Can't recommend it enough.

And this is why I want a Genzler DI/Pre. Going to practice means just bringing a bass. Everything else stays. So nice. And my hearing is thanking me. Even though my 800 and 2x12-3 can keep up with the Marshall and the Twin and the cymbals with ease, it's brutal on the head. Guitar players and drummers...am I right?

Question: does anyone have a 10-2 stacked on top of either a single 12-3 or two 12-3s? Can it even be heard? I'm thinking of a 10-2 or 350/10 combo but wonder if the 10 would have any use outside of small gigs/practice for me.

For the last going on 3 years I’ve been playing in a church worship band on a big stage of a mega church auditorium that seats 1,000+ and we use IEM coupled to Avioms. As its neat & nice having the ability to select who you want to hear and which in which ear plus volume levels etc...Personally, I miss the FEEL of the bass cab(s) pushing subsonic frequency air against my back. Especially with my 2 BA 12-3s couple with the MG800, which I use in my music studio for practicing. But I understand the “why” of this stage sound method as they control the sound more easily for “Livestream”, radio and TV viewers. Makes for a quieter stage.

A Genzler DI would be great but for now - you could still bring the head as a DI... Messenger bag can hold an extra cable or a pedal or two (managed to put a zoom B3N in there).

I'm using an Aguilar DI which is actually quite nice. Bought it used at the Bass Shop Seattle (great store) for a good price and it fits the bill. Tried SansAmp but never loved the tone. Everything stays in the studio except the bass so transporting the head, even though it's feather weight, just isn't necessary for practice. But I am thinking of picking up a 350 combo...GAS knows no bounds! And of course, if Mr. Genzler made a DI and/or cab sim (how nice would that be?) I'd be all over it!

So far I've been transporting the combo in the carry bag. It's a bit awkward to carry because the weight is out away from your body. You do get the advantage of leaving the head attached to the cabinet, and the bag has an extra pocket for storing cables and such. I have the cover for the separate BA10-2 cabinets, and it's a much easier carry than the combo bag. I think I might try each cabinet in the cabinet covers and put the MG350 in the pocket of my bass bag (or in the MG350 carry bag).

Same here. I bought the carrying bag and it’s awessome in terms of protection but its too big and bulky & time consuming to pack up when I’m rushing out of the house once a week for rehearsal. As a result my cab is getting a few scuffs and nicks here and there. I usually try to keep my stuff minty but I would rather the speed of grab and go for this rig so my regret about the scuffs is mild and a conscious choice. I plan on using the bag when I know the cab will have a longer ride - but not in a truck/van ;-) - or be sitting around at a gig where it might get knocked around before setup on stage.

What would be perfect for my quick rehearsal carry and probably most of my gigs is a tight fitting cover that hugs the shape of the amp and a cutout where the grab handle is. Perhaps just enough room around the cutout to not have to remove the speaker cable but I could deal with that for a perfectly fitting, minimalistic cover. Something like the cordura with foam padding bonded to the inside like the upgraded LeCover materials. That would be a tricky piece to produce given the irregular shape of the bolt on amp. I wouldn’t mind spending the $$ for the complex work. I had the LeCover folks make a cover for my baby blue which isnt lerfectly rectangular. They didn't have a pattern and I sent them the measurements. It came out perfectly, very happy with their work. Some day I will likely take a few measures and see what they would quote for the kind of cover I’m thinking about for my 350 and if it’s a go I’ll pass that info on to this group.

I had LeCover make a cover for my BA410-3. They upgraded the material to their 1/2" Cordura Polyester 1220. The cover is rigid enough to stand on it's own. To drape it over the cabinet only takes holding it by the top trim above the cabinet and letting it just fall from its own weight into perfect position. When I take the 410-3 to certain gigs that don't provide enough storage space, I have to take the cover back to my SUV! Sometimes I set it on its top and use it like a soft bin to hold other smaller cases/bags.

I agree the 350 bag is larger than I thought it would be but appreciate it will keep things safe from dings. I used to have a larger SUV but now drive a Wrangler. I appreciate the size and weight of the cabs and the quality of the covers because they get to ride in the back where space is tight and they will surely rub up against each other. (Though I admit I haven't tossed everything back there yet, covers and all.)

One thing with the 350 that I dont like is that when you lift it off the ground the cabinet rolls forward on to the bottom front metal corners. Sometimes the ground is concrete and the corners get scuffed right away. If those two corners we a more scuff-resistant material i'd say Genzler had thought of everything.

It really depends on what cab IR you use. I'm sure most of them would be fine. Personally, I wouldn't run it like that. I'd try to route the signal so that the the output with the cab sim goes to FOH and the output without the cab sim goes to my amp. This mainly applies if you are gigging, if you're not, then run it however makes you happy!

Ok, that makes me a little biased toward not using the cab sim on the amp. I'm still going to play it by ear, just because to me, the genzler stuff sounds a lot like my pa cab, only better (doesn't have the ganky horn sound). If it had obvious color, I wouldn't even think of it. It's totally for gigging, fwiw. I don't even use an amp at home. Thanks!

I use a t-shirt to cover my PA speaker. It works well because it protects it from scrapes, and I don't really knock my stuff around much. I put the neck hole where the handle is. I'll have to see if any of my t-shirts would fit over my genzler BA 10-2's. I like using the cases for the BA 10-2s, but they make them quite a bit more cumbersome to carry, for some reason.

I just asked my wife and she will put together various styles of cab covers and prices. I will put together photos of what she has made for my own cabs that I still have & use. She is very imaginative and creative. All you’d need would be to send measurements and what you’d like built into each cover.

So what you’re saying is...you’d like a cab cover with a stitched in padded “pocket” built into the top of the cover that’ll fit over top of the MG350 for when it’s bolted to the top of the cab, thus not having to unbolt the MG350 from the cab all the time, and being protected via a form fitting padded cover? Novel idea actually...

some folk marketed a similar concept cover for the Genz Benz shuttle combos...

here are two options on eBay. I expect the handle placement on the Genzler combo would make the cover a little trickier...

I had one of the heavy weight Le Cover covers for another amp and one point and it was pretty much as described above and easily stood on its own. I had mixed feelings about that. You always have the trade-off between protection and ease of use. I tend to lean more towards easily folded, less protection, less bulky because my uses do not require more protection and ease of use/schlepability is paramount. (the same is true for me regarding gig bags... I dislike the big bulky ones like the Mono or the Continental).

I’m not sure it’s even that novel. There were some covers for the old Shuttle series (Genz bolt-on amp combo) that did something sorta similar.

@iceboxbass, the LeCover I have is not really heavy, but it is rigid and resists getting out of shape. It will fold, but not easily. It's that material upgrade they gave me at no cost. It's really a nice strong cover suitable for serious road traveling, unlike the 'dust' cover I got from a lessor cabinet maker whose name begins with 'A'.
