Genzler Amplification Club

I'm still loving the MG800 after having it since shortly after it's introduction.

I'm running the MG800 with Zoom B3n, and go out of the MG800 DI post EQ. Use the clean channel with contour B at about 10 o'clock. EQ is pretty flat with a very slight hi-mid boost.
Last week after an outdoor show at a park the sound guy said that it was the best & clearest bass tone he'd ever worked with. He did NOTHING to the bass channel but leave it flat, and said it was wonderful in the mix.

I've received numerous compliments from various sound guys that I have worked with. NEVER a complaint.
I have sold all other heads and keep a GK MBF800 in backup, but never gets used. The MG800 is my go-to every time.

You deserve some credit as well, beyond your good taste in equipment, you've got a good ear and could have easily sent too much of something that would then need an adjustment. It's up to the player to know what knobs to turn. Congrats on the good compliments from foh, those are among the nicest to hear.

@Fishface ----- Someones artistic talents go way above and beyond the stage. Awesome painting. Is this your work?

Not my work. I have problems with crayons, and this is above my talents.

Some random guy setup behind the stage and asked for permission to paint. I said "sure".
I went to look after the show, and saw it just about completed.
Unfortunately I did not obtain the finished work, but the trumpet player snagged it up before I could (while I went to compliment his work to the other bandmates). Needless to say, I was bummed and kicking myself.

Oh well... we were someones "muse" for the day.

What the hell, You can barely make out the damn trumpet player. You were the obvious focus of that piece he should at least give you first right of refusal...

Yep... I thought the very same things. I should have right of first refusal. But I’d rather keep the peace than keep the piece. You all know how easy Band drama can escalate, and the horn line is a keeper (they come as a package).

Oh well.

Sorry for the late reply, it seems I don't get email notifications from TB anymore! I'm not sure if the OP's question/issue has been resolved or not, but yes - I now use one 210-3 and one 12-3, for a number of mostly practical reasons. I like the 210-3's tone and volume capabilities more than the 12-3 if using just a single cab; since I have gigs from single cab/no-PA ones to large scale no-amps/IEM ones, the 210-3 was a great addition to go from small to medium, adding the 12-3 for medium to large. A good number of shows I'm currently doing are large to... larger? and are ampless, so I'm using an amp/cab model and going straight to IEMs. I've been telling @Jeff Genzler we need to get some Genzler cab IRs made and make them available, so others in this scenario can still use a great, virtual approximation of their Bass Array and Magellan cabs! Of course, an MG800 amp model for the Helix/Fractal would be awesome, too :)

Never had an issue with volume with the 12-3. Only once did go above 1/4 volume - that was before I got the second cab. So... small gigs I use one cab / everything else 2 cabs more for the low end extension than volume.

Even outdoors on a big stage - 2 cabs and about 1/4 volume. If I got a 3rd cab - honestly would be more for looks than anything else (and i do so like the look) :thumbsup:
