I really like the 12-3. It's a little lighter goes lower and isn't as mid forward. You can probably get to the 210 sound with a bit of mid boost and likely can get the 12 sound out of the 210 with a bottom boost but I've been very happy with my 12's - go low like a 15 and punch like 10's!

You could be very happy with the BA210-3. Best of all, it has the same footprint as the new BA15-3 which would be killer sting under a BA210-3. With those two cabinets you’d be set for just about anything.
Like you, I ran into a Magellan 800 with a BA12-3 at a store. Frankly, Genzler wasn’t even on my radar at that point. I played through the combo and was floored. Three months and $1800 later, I bought them and have been happy ever since. Even after the BA15-3 was introduced back in January, I had no regrets.
I’m going to have to go back to the store and do a shoot out. Sounds fun
A shoot out is a great idea. The cabs are that good with each being a slightly different version of awesome.
Lots of big cab, big stack talk, but let’s not forget that the little combos kick ass as well.

Are there any issues/things to consider about pairing 'original' version BA 12-3s with a new version cab?
I waited quite a while before I decided on the “un 15”. What a cab! IMHO, the best 15 around. If I need more, 210-3 on top of it or another 15-3. Those combinations of cabs are very potent, but as Steve C said, many times that much is not needed, so YES, these cabs ARE that good!
Fortunately (or not?) most of my gigs are through a good PA with IEM’s so a big rig isn’t a need for me. The occasional pick up gig for jazz or musicals is covered by the MG350/112. I still have my BA10-2 as well. Another great little cab.
With touring season shot due to the virus, my rig will be in storage for the foreseeable future. Any issues with leaving a Magellan amp in climate controlled storage indefinitely?

Had a great gig with the double BA15-3 SLT stack this past 4th of July. Outdoor gig, wide variety of music, competing with drums, keys, guitar, and vocals, and this stack killed!
Great venue right along the Sandusky River here in Ohio. Yes, the water is getting rather high on Lake Erie, so precautions must be taken.
My guitar player had previously commented that he really like the compact, slanted design when he first saw the cabs. Then, he commented that they were some of his favorite cabs in terms of my bass tone. Then, he helped me move them for the show, and he is now utterly in love with my BA15-3 SLT's!

GenzBenz sold, Magellan Is here. Only one 12 cab, this sound better for me as BA12-3. Thanks Jeff, its value for money.
Tom - What’s “Erie” here is that you allowed a guitar player to comment on your gear. However, given that he was complimentary to the Genzler rig (and it IS awesome!), we’ll let it go. I usually reach for the ear protection when a guitar player approaches.

LOL! That was a Great [Lakes] joke! In truth, I usually just tune out our guitar player, but my ears do perk up when he says nice things about my bass rig.
Even though all I NEED is my small combo, I’m a little jealous of the big rigs. I’d need to get rid of the A6 as well so...
