Genzler Amplification Club

I played an outdoor venue at a local nursing home yesterday afternoon. The full band was there but we kept things moderate in volume and song selection. I just received an MG12T-V on Friday so I thought I would try it in combination with a BA10-2. I know a couple of you have tried this combination at home but I don't recall any gig reports.

I actually liked the combination a lot. I turned the tweeter off in the MG12T-V per Jeff's suggestion and the cab added some nice bottom without seeming to interfere with the clarity and excellent dispersion of the BA10-2. The band commented on how nice it sounded. I think outdoors at moderate volume (no PA support) is a good way to evaluate the sound of a rig since there isn't a lot of sound bouncing around like indoors. I will be trying this combo again at two indoor venues next weekend.

The 4otF is working out very well for me. I'm still early in the learning curve, but first gear as "always on" is a winner for me. It seems to add a little sustain and breadth to the notes in a musical way. I used it at an indoor venue last weekend and "shifted" to second gear for a few rock songs and it added a very nice edge to the tone. This pedal is a winner!

One last comment. My rig was in the direct sunlight for part of the gig, and the housing of the 4otF and MG350 got very warm. The rig performed flawlessly with no issues! The thermal management system did it's job.

I haven’t used the BA15-3 with the 410 enough to compare. The 410/210 has been my main rig and the 15 resides at our practice studio.

Now that I’m playing a 5er more I’m going to start using the 15 for my upcoming shows. So more on this in the coming weeks!

The four on the floor looks awesome. It would be rad if you could “shift” gears via foot switch. Is that possible with this unit?

NM I watched a couple videos. Doesn’t seem like it can. I think that would be a cool feature. If I didn’t have like a million dirt boxes I’d definitely be looking at this unit.

No on all counts.

1) There is no 2ohm setting. It is 2.67ohms

2) There is no 8ohm setting. It is a combination 4/8ohm setting

3) 410 4ohms + 115 8ohms results in 2.67ohms, not 2. Use the 2.67ohm setting

4) Combining 2 8ohm cabinets (115, 112, 110, 210) results in 4ohm impedance. Activate the 4/8 impedance setting

5) Add a 3rd 8ohm cabinet to scenario 4 results in 2.67 ohms. Use that amp setting

Parallel connections are assumed. The number of connected cabinets determines impedance, NOT the number of cables connected directly to the back of the amp.

and to complicate things further...

you can run the amp in the 2.67 ohm setting with a single 8 ohm cabinet but this will result in a slight decrease in power. As I understand it, this will not damage anything. Am I understanding this correctly @Jeff Genzler ?

@revroy --- yes you are correct on this point relating to a lower power setting. And just to note, the MG-800 can run at 2 ohm if using GENZLER cabs. We are confident in our nominal impedance ratings on our cabs to handle this lowest impedance rating without issues. Several players are doing this. For instance Doug Johns always runs two MG-212T cab (4 ohms each) and with his intensive playing style, has no issues. Just throwing that out there...

My BA10-2 and MG12T-V pairing had its maiden voyage last weekend at a low-volume outdoor gig. I'll be using the same set up tonight and tomorrow night at two different indoor venues.

Fender Ultra 4-string Jazz Bass to 4OTf to MG350 to BA10-2/MG12T-V.

I used a pair of BA10-2s at both of these venues in the past, so this will be an interesting comparison. I anticipate excellent results!

All - I posted this in the Amps and Cabs forum too, but wanted my Genzler Club Brethren to see this as well:

I've been a Genz Benz and now, Genzler fan for years. I've lost count of how many amps and cabs of his that I've owned over the years, starting with the Shuttles and Streamliners and Uber cabs, and now Magellans and Bass Array cabinets. And their service has always been great (not that I've needed much over the years, the products are all really solid).

A few weeks ago, I posted on TB in the Genzler Amplification Club about an issue I had been having with a gig bag for my Magellan 350/10-2 combo not fitting properly, basically being hard to close. I wanted to see if anyone had experienced this, or if they had any ideas for workarounds.

Not 2 hours later I got an email from Jeff Genzler, asking about the problem seeing what he could do to help. Mind you, I hadn't reached out to Jeff or tagged him in the post. I described it to him and sent him a few photos and he straight-up offered to send me a new one at no cost to me.

Jeff is always ever-helpful on Talkbass and he may well be embarrassed that I'm doing this, but @Jeff Genzler, thank you for making great products and for standing behind everything that you do 100%.
