I’m accompanying my wife on the ol’ acoustic guitar for a wedding this weekend and I was trying to get a good sound out of my old Crate acoustic amp (to no avail) and, out of curiosity, I decided to try my 350/12T-V combo and my goodness! Now I’m both jonesing for an Acoustic Array PRO -AND- thinking I should bring my 800/BA15-3 and rock that wedding!

Hi Ryan,

I have tried the BA10/BA12 combination and now use the BA10/MG12TV combination, both with the MG350 and MG800 heads.

The BA10/BA12 combination works very well as others have mentioned. The two cabinets compliment each other nicely with no holes or overly pronounced frequencies. This stack really shines on bigger stages where you can get away from the cabs and move around the stage...the sound is big and balanced with excellent dispersion.

I chose to use the BA10/MG12TV for a couple of reasons. Almost all of my gigs are on small, tight stages and the smaller footprint of the MG12TV is advantageous in those situations. While the BA12 isn't difficult to carry at all, lighter weight has become important to me and the MG12TV is about 10 pounds lighter and more compact than the BA12. The MG12TV is also taller so the BA10 gets a little closer to my ears.

In the overall band mix the BA12 will be a bit deeper and smoother than the MG12TV but not by much. So overall it just depends on your individual needs. I would give a slight nod to the BA12 for overall sound, but I don't give up much with the MG12TV and the ergonomics suit my needs much better.

I took a couple of pics of my rig at our last gig during setup. I really like this combination.

I use a BabyGramma between the two cabinets for stability and it works well.

We know that (generically) a line array can cover an increased dispersion angle and that in these Genzler Array based products, that is additive (SPL) by the increased number of paper cone drivers. So one would ask themselves if they prefer the crispness of a horn for mid/high or the properties of an array of paper cone drivers including the dispersion characteristics of an array.

I just turn the horn off on my neoX 212 and let the BA12-3 carry the top end. Much smoother to my ear.

The BA15-3 offers a much rounder low end than the BA210-3 I normally play. Still punches and and the B string sounds full and defined. The 2 cabs work well together. Again, sounds like one big rig rather than 2 different cabs. Plus, offers a bigger bottom end than the BA210-3.

Playing the same venue tonight so I get to do it all again!! More to come!

Tonight was the first test of my new NC212T - man, it sounded incredible powered by the MG800 with a Lakland 55-02. The low B string sounded awesome and I was able to get lots of definition. Sorry, no pics as there were non-amp technical issues I had to deal with and then my phone was in use for break music. And a big thank you to Jeff for getting my cover shipped out so quickly - excellent Genzler customer support as always!

In my seemingly endless search for the right cabs for me, I'm now wondering about the Nu Classic series. I've been playing BA10-2s and I've now added an MG12T-V to the stable. I'm wondering if anyone has played both the MG12T-V and NC112 and could offer their impressions on how the two compare. I've watched all the video reviews on line (it's tough for me to really get a feel for the cabs based on this), and read all the comments on this thread.

Folks seem to describe the MG12T-V as being somewhat mid-forward, vocal mids, a little bit aggressive, and more of a rock cabinet. I find the cab to be pretty smooth and not too aggressive (although I suppose you could push it).

I see the Nu Classic series described, compared to the MG12T-V, as a little warmer in the mids and a bit tighter low end, with a little less power handling.

Has anyone tried both the MG12T-V and the NC112 (or any of the NC cabs) in a gig situation, a full band rehearsal, or maybe compared them side by side?

Any input is much appreciated!

Nob, I've gigged the BA, the MG, and just ordered an NC. Will gig it next month, I hope, and can report then.

But I can tell you with PA support in a 3 guitar, drums, me band, I gigged a 112TV combo with the 350w MG head and had sufficient stage volume. I angled the combo up with a folding stand. I used the same cab in 4 piece, quieter, country bands with no issue either. Tone was great either way

I use two Genz Benz focus 112 cabinets and love to tone. Per the man himself he said if I liked the focus cabinets I’ll love the NU series. If I had the extra money I’d upgrade to the NU speakers, but that’s just me
