EQ question:

As I am not yet running a Genzler head, I was hoping to get some guidance as to how to leverage my parametric EQ to approximate the two different contour flavors of the Magellan 800 and get the most out of my new 12/3 stack. (I found that the the flat response of my Fearful rig required some significant adjustment to tame specific high, medium and low points on the curve, something that took me some time to get the hang of!).

As such - would love any suggestions as to what EQ magic works best on the Genzlers! Though these do sound fantastic through my Alembic F-1x tube preamp. :)

Best advice I got ( from Jeff himself) was to start with the eq flat. Then dial in the contour to taste. I'm "A" a contour guy but will turn over "B" when doing some early 70's classics. I lived there for years before I started experimenting with the eq. I found to it depends on the room you're in and the bas syour playing. My Sadowsky sounds so darn good with everything flat and "A" contour around 11am. I have an MG800 with two 12's and a 15.

So for those of you with the array cabinets. I’m thinking of either adding the 15 or another 12-3. At practice I play through a Henry the 8X8 and love how punchy and focused it is but it’s really inefficient and honestly I’m afraid I’m
Gonna blow it up as it only handles maybe 400 watts I think (I’ve seen mixed specs). My band is pretty damn loud so I’m thinking adding a 12 or a 15 would carry me pretty easily. Does the 15 have the punch of the 12 or is it a bit more rounded? I’ve heard folks describe it as a bit more even with a nice low end. Any thoughts?

Are you planning to use the new cab alone or with the Henry? (they may or may not play well together)

What head? If your head can do 2 ohms, you may be better off with a 2nd Henry since you like it. I see Guitar Center has one listed in their used gear as does Music-Go-Round. Or go in a new direction and replace everything. For punch and crazy loud, a BA410 + a BA210...

I was planning on not using the Henry and bringing my own rig as the Henry is kind of a communal bass cabinet that my drummer uses with his other band. My band is one quite loud guitarist and a heavy handed drummer but I think the 410 and 210 would be overkill. Kind of looking for easy to move modular setup that would handle practice and smaller bar gigs. The head is a Bergantino Forte HP.
