A single BA12, while able to go pretty loud, probably would disappoint you with a "quite loud guitarist and a heavy handed drummer." I'd be really surprised if two would not work and would give you flexibility. For more punch and flexibility, maybe 2 of the BA210's. Someone else will need to comment as to whether a single 210 would be adequate.

Yeah I’m just thinking about which cabinet to add to my current 12-3 to bring to practice. I talked to Jeff and he said I might like the 115 as an addition but I just wanted to see whether they would have similar punch of the Henry. The Henry is a big cab with a lot of surface area but we keep having issues with everyone being able to hear me with it and how the room is set up. So I wanted a one or two cab solution that would cut through. I’m going to bring my 12-3 to practice this week and see what it can do and probably pair it with the Henry just for giggles. At least that would allow me to open up the 12-3 and hear it in a mix. I really love the Genzler cabs and don’t want to make the wrong choice.

Ahhhh... I missed that you have a 12-3. In that case, you can't make a wrong choice

Gonna blow it up as it only handles maybe 400 watts I think (I’ve seen mixed specs). My band is pretty damn loud so I’m thinking adding a 12 or a 15 would carry me pretty easily. Does the 15 have the punch of the 12 or is it a bit more rounded? I’ve heard folks describe it as a bit more even with a nice low end. Any thoughts?

After playing just about every iteration of the BA cabs, I kept coming back to the triple BA12-3 stack as being my favorite - especially if one of them is the SLT variety. It seems like we all define "punch" differently, but for me, the triple 12-3 stack had more balance an impact through the "all of the mids" (IMHO, "mids" should really be broken down into three ranges: low-mids to middle-mids to upper-mids).

And then I gigged with the double BA15-3 stack, and it seemed to have almost as much presence in the mids, but also a bigger, deeper low end, and a more open, vibrant feeling from the upper mids on up. There just a hint of growl in there, too. I think of it as "clarity with attitude."

Most of the time, I slightly prefer the double BA15-3 stack (only two cabs, and they are ridiculously light for their size), but I'm never disappointed when I use the triple BA12-3 stack, either. If you are only going to add one cab, I would try either the BA115-3 or a BA112-3 SLT. Really can't go wrong either way, IME/IMHO.

i have had 2 single 15" STL arrays I have been using and its been great. I think I am wanting to change it up though and trade the 15" for a 10"STL array. What are your guys thoughts on a 15" + 10" combo? the 2 15s" are great its just its a little hard to get mids and higher strings to cut through like the lows. especially using a spector like i do. I play a range of all music so I want something that can kinda do it all so to speak. haha. so i am just taking suggestions from those who have tried or have this kind of combo? thanks yall

I have 2 15" you may love the punch it adds I want to sll one of mine to take away some low end as 2 is just ALOT!! especially with these cabs!

I have two setups: one is three SLT BAs (the 10, 12, and 15. I love either the 12 or 10 with the 15. Very wide range, with bass end but clear. The second is a NU setup, with a 112 and 210. Love that too, but the BAs are a joy.

I’m finally getting to play out again. YAY!!!!
I had my second gig at a local winery this past Saturday and had a newbie surprise/problem. I was using my BA12 & BA10 with my MG800 at a medium volume. Every now and then I got this really ugly fatty kind of sound that seemed to be coming only from the BA10. It seemed to go away. I was disturbed but finished the gig. Yesterday I set up the entire rig exactly as it had been and very quickly discovered what was going on. The gain on my compressor had been bumped and when I hit a note particularly hard, it pushed the amp into clipping. It was there in both cabs but didn’t sound quite as obnoxious through the BA12 due to the different voicing of the cab. Simple, easy fix and everything sounds right again but I was surprised at how quickly the clipping turns really ugly and the difference in how ugly, depending on the cab. Now I know what it sounds like and won’t have that happen again. :roflmao:
For those considering pairing the BA12 with a BA10… they really do work well together and make a potent combination.

Played through a 210/15 rig back in the 80's. Coming full circle has never sounded better!!

One of my experiments in the 90's was bi-amping of course. I used a Peavey TNT with a 15" Black Widow and had a crossover built in. For the top I used a Peavey PA cab of some kind. It was a 2x10 with a horn and built in amp. Both of them were heavy as heck. Not sure how great it sounded, but it was quite the rig. I'd much rather hear - and haul - yours around - even if it isn't bi-amped. :cool:

jeff, I know we have spoken before about my magellan 800 head an then my 2 BA15-3STL Array cabs. How many player have you seen pair up 2 15"? I figured I would ask on this thread to help others choose as well. I play jam music so I play almost all types of generas in same show so versatility is the key to my game and tone. what do you think of the 2 15" combo for a person like myself. An what is your fav cab or customers fav cab to pair with it?

We probably waited to long to bring it out when we did a couple of years ago, because we weren't sure how many players might still be interested in such a "big piston" design but it has become one our most popular cabs. Really has none of the disadvantages that 15" cabs have had in the past.
