I wouldn't compare one single BA10-2 to a big (studio) monitor/speaker, of course at the end it is still a single 10" driver no matter what... for that I would definitely go with the BA12-3.
My point is that this little 10-2 is very clear and even (for a bass cabinet and not a reference monitor) with little, if at all, coloration.
For gigs I would always use two BA10-2 (again unless it is a small rehearsal or some kinda acoustic/living room jam thingy :D)...

Damn.. am i really going to let you all convince me to try the BA123 series now? I've been extremely happy with what i already have.. !! I need to leave talkbass and never come back This place cost me too much money! LOL.. But TRUTH

You know what i am going to tell you.. LOL:)
But i did A/B the two 212 cabs side by side at the Guitar sanctuary in McKinney TX before i bought my MG212 cab..
Just sayin.. Berg is Fantastic gear. Top of the line... And so is Genzler. Same category of greatness.. Just a little different flavour..
But Genzler is the only one with the Line array concept..

I am feeling like Genzler is more me. I think the Berg stuff is amazing gear. I like options, bells and whistles as much as the next guy, but I'm not sure if I really NEED all that the B|amp can do. I am so familiar with Jeff's stuff from way back and I have actually played a Magellan 800. It's also a little less expensive which helps.

As to combo or not...part of my desire for a new rig is that I think I need/want to hear more than a 10 - or pair of 10's - to get a more full sound. Jeff's cabs are amazing, and I was shocked when I first heard my Shuttle 3.0-10T combo. Ridiculous lows from a tiny box. I have no doubt that the new one is even better. Yet, when I do occasional gigs - like outdoor arts fairs, craft shows, etc., I feel that even my mini stack of 300 watts into 2 1x10's struggles just a little bit.

I'm thinking that a BA12-3 with a Magellan 800 head would be a rig that would handle things like that a little better. I was hoping we'd see a 800/BA12-3 combo. And honestly, the 800 and BA12-3 isn't THAT much bigger to carry the few times I need to.

I, too have curiosity about the other cabs, but it is really only curiosity, not GAS. I am so happy with my 12-3 stack that I truly have zero GAS for cabs whatsoever, not even for other Genzler cabs. The only purchase I might make in that regard in the future is to add a 3rd 12-3, but even that is not at a level of GAS. I'm still waiting for an actual reason to do it (no offense Tom B! :D). I'm sure it would sound even better, but I'm so pleased with two I just can't get to the point of pulling the trigger.;)

I was an owner of the Shuttle 6.0, and the Magellan 800 is so much more in heft. And, if you do, I'd love to do a comparison of the 12-3 and my Baer ML-112! :bassist:

Well, if I do, you know I'll be more than happy to bring it to the next GTG. I think that Genzler is probably the right choice for me. Sound, ease of use (no menus, just a couple different colors of lights) and familiarity are all pluses.
The thing now is combo or separates. Like I said a couple posts back, I think the 2x10, 300 watt rig is taxed at outdoor gigs with an average drummer, maybe vibes and/or guitar, a sax, who knows who will show up sometimes. :cool:
It's nice to have a little "in reserve" so you're not always running full blast, right?

I know it won't sound like church with the great system we have - top name flown FOH, stereo subs, board, network, IEM's., etc. - but a nice full sound for practice and occasional gigs where I can really let these $3,000 basses - and my $300 bass - sing would be awesome.

It sounds like you're making the right call by going with Genzler. I've tried the B-Amp, the HDN112 and HDN210. Obviously the Berg stuff is top notch. I currently have the MG800 and I'm trying to decide between the BA12-3 and the BA10-2 (combo or stand alone cab). I like the simplicity of the Genzler EQ and the contour curves are very useful. I especially like curve B to smooth out the aggressive upper mid response present in some cabinets (not referring to Genzler cabinets here). I haven't heard either BA cabinet yet, but they are consistently described as clear, smooth and balanced, which is exactly what I'm looking for. I too am a long time user of Genz gear and the new Genzler offering just seems like going home to me.
