Glad to comment though of course with a disclaimer that these are my opinions and impressions and your mileage may vary. I don't play upright and playing fretless in general scares me but i'd be very surprised if you aren't impressed with the MG-350. I play a [fretted] 4-string Sadowsky RV4 and whether in active or passive the MG-350 suits me. I find it provides all the clarity i also want but with plenty of warmth if that makes sense. And with lots of b**ls behind each note! The contour curves provide really nice musical tonal variations, and even when contours are turned off/flat, the "basic" EQ is just fine.

I am really looking forward to getting the BA10-2 cab and setting up my combo rig because the cab is certainly part of this whole sound equation.

Interesting. I have not measured the BA10-2, yet, but after A/B/Cing the various Bass Array cabs at the NAMM Show, I felt like the BA12-3 was the most even and balanced from top to bottom. The BA10-2 did seem to have more cut and clarity, though.

I think the mid-high drivers in the BA10-2 do give a bit more clarity than the BA12-3s but also feel the BA12-3 is overall most even balanced. The thing is that with 2 BA10-2 I was able to adjust EQ (not much required) for a good sound when a drummer stopped by and I wanted to see what the MG350 with two of these 10-2 sounds like at drummer volume. When cranked up a bit (far from any distress, about halfway) they evened out and easily kept up with the drummer. 2 of these coupled really make a difference.

I dont have the Line Array cabs I have the magellan 212 and it gets VERY LOUD and punch with Growl and Lows too.. I really want to get a magellan 112 to add on larger gigs.
Ive been using my Magellan 212 and older Uber 115 for my large gig right now It sound great but I think the 3 x12s would be more even and controlled than what i'm doing by mixing drivers..
I am wanting to try the MG800 at 2Ω when i get home in 2 weeks just to see if it does it without a hitch

I finally got to try the ba12-3 and ba10-2 cabs at ISH guitars in Syracuse ny. Great store and great staff! They had Magellan 212t for comparison, which I've owned and like a lot. In short, my ears are a little old school and prefered the 212t but the arrays are really smooth and clear. I liked the tone and feel of the 1x10 and bet that in the array line, the ba210-3 would be my pick. I guess that I'm a 1-way cab kind of guy. A 3x10 stack would be pretty nice though.

In this day of cheap power and kilowatt heads I was a bit skittish of a 350 watt combo. Nice to know that with a pair of 10-2s it can keep up with a drummer. I am sure a triple stack would be perfectly gig worthy with a rock group that knows how to set levels. I would like to see a comparison of a triple 10-2 stack vs a double 12-3 stack.

I will do that at some point. I have a feeling the 10s will be punchier but the 12's pair will still win out on low end but could be surprised as the pair of 10's were not lacking in low end. Are you planning on coming down for the Four State Guitar Show in Springfield April 22nd?

IMO, if I compare the BA10-2 to something like studio monitor etc, I feel like it is closer to that than the BA12-3, which to my ears it seems thicker and beefier than a studio/reference monitor..... at the end.... they all sound great!

I had no problem keeping up with my "big band" (4 horns, gtr, ky, dr) with my little Gimli (2x BA10-2)

LOL, good point! FWIW, at NAMM, I believe we were comparing stacks of two, but it could have been stacks of three cabs, each (of the three Bass Array cabs).

Compared to a smaller, near-field, monitor, I could see that being the case. However, compared to bigger monitors, listened to at an appropriate distance, I would think the BA12-3 might be closer.
