I am currently checking out a BA210–3, and I have been playing 2 Bergantino HDN210s for the last 2 1/2 years and been super happy with them.

I honestly think these two cabs sound very different; the form factor is pretty much opposite; you get more acoustic coupling and high bass response from the BA series.

You get a little more grainy and cutting hi mids from the HDN210, and it sounds a little glassier with a higher treble response. These are amazing cabs and it’s going to take a lot to dethrone them.

The BA210–3 has more crunch in the middle mids and maybe a touch more in the low mids as well. Harmonics jump out, but I have not been as happy with the slap tone out of the box. I used it by itself on outdoor gig yesterday and was really surprised with the full range clarity.

One of each actually sounds fantastic! Bergantino HDN210 on top of the BA210-3 SLT.

The best sound I have ever found as a doubler is the Genzler BA110 with a Phil Jones 2 x 7 on top. I wish I could get this exact sound just at higher volumes— and I honestly think it’s going to take a combination of one array, and one more traditionally equipped tweetered cab.

I have a BA 115 coming in a few days. I look forward to trying that one!

has anyone combined an Array cab with a new classic cab?

I have to say I’m intrigued by the nc210 on top of the nc115 in that Nate Navarro demo!!!! Sounded amazing! As is his playing…

The best thing about it was the look the sound guy gave me when I "tested" it to make sure it was working. I hit a low B and his head swung around with a big smile and he said, "That thing sounds amazing! I like it!"

Maybe cause he’s fighting with the ampeg cab to get his sound… check the tone controls on the right. Rolling of some bass to counter the bottom boost on the contour but also quite a lot of adjustment on mids and treble.

I tend to scoop out 500Hz. It’s just a little boxy for my liking. I replace it with some mild distortion to get the bass to cut through. I’ve been doing this for 40+ years.

The Genz Benz ShuttleMAX 12.0 was great for this. Now a pedal or 2 before the Magellan 800 gets me there. And the Bass Array cabs makes sure everyone in the balcony hears it too! :cool:

Hive mind question. My little rig has never quite done it for me. It has a sort of tube type distortion sort of sound and can't really handle the low B or really any pushing of any kind. This is in direct difference to what everyone talks about these amps. Now, I am not sure if it is the amp or the cab's, but everyone raves about them and I am not getting any of that. So, at the gig last night, I decided to try the rig one more time. This time however, I decided to link the cabinets instead of running them out of the 2 Speakon outputs on the back of the amp. Well now. This is my question. This is a totally different rig now. Everything was as everyone says they are. Clean clear punchy and loud enough. What in the world is going on??

There is no difference UNLESS there is an issue with your cabinet’s internal wiring.

The possibility I’m thinking about is one of the cabinet’s jacks being wired backwards. If you were to use this jack ad the input to the cabinet the other way, the results would be problematic too.

I can certainly give them a switch and try it out. From the picture, I always run them as you see it. The PBJ speakers both have in/link jacks on the back. I always plug 1 cable to the in and to the amp. I can't see it as being a speaker issue since I use the in side for both cabinets yesterday. The only difference is I used the thru on the Cab27 into the Cab 47 and not the second out of the amp. There should not be a difference, but in this case it was a huge difference. Crazy...

Everything else is equal on other gigs though? Outside, proximity to amp, PA support or none, right?
