Genzler Amplification Club

Just got the Magellan 800. The 212T should be here Thursday. Does or has anyone run the Magellan 212T (31”X16”X19”) with the 12T-V (19.625”X14.5”X16”) on top? Website says they’re different widths & depths. I don’t think my OCD could handle the symmetrical difference. I’m hoping it’s a typo error & they’re the same width and depth.

@Rodslinger --- Thank you for coming onboard with a new GENZLER rig. Regarding your question about stacking the MG12T-V and the MG-212T, the website is correct, the 1x12 is a different footprint.
Originally we made our MG-112T as a single 12" that WAS the same footprint as the 2x12 BUT we found that design was a low and wide singe 12" and had it's own challenges, so we moved on from that footprint to something more "vertical" ------ thus the MG-12T-V (V for Vertical). This now looks more like a mini version of our MG-212T.
I do know a few players that stack the 1x12 on top of the 2x12" but it would fail your OCD test.
And I understand that completely.

I do think you should run the new rig together (MG-800 and MG-212T) and see if you think you need an additional 12" on top. Not to step on a potential sale, I think the MG-212T will pretty much rock most any stage you would want to play.
Now using the MG-12T-V as an alternate rig for a smaller format but a similar tone, that would certainly be a reason for checking out the MG-12T-V cab for those needs.

Hope this information is helpful. Certianly you can PM or email me if you have more questions.

I really appreciate your input & I have a feeling I will at some point get the 12T-V. I’ll deal with the difference in size & i’m sure it will grow on me. If not visually then sonically lol.

Is it super crazy for me to want to run the mesa 2x10 with the genzler head a the 15 STL array. I can get a somewhat deal on a used one that would get me it now an I just really overdid it on BOOM when I got the second 15”. I know they work in situations an if I had money I’d put the extra 15 up an still by the 2x10 casue I play jam band stuff an festival stuff outside is brutal. But I got offered a straight up
Trade for my 15 for the mesa lightweight 2x10. Not my first choice to mix cabs but I mean it didn’t sound bad… am
I crazy? I wish I knew more
About speakers size an sculpting tone. But I feel like if I can save coin here an it would Eb a good amount. Like I LOVE genzler but I’m just kinda needing to save cash.
I could keep tryin to make the 2 15s
Work an was going to buy an eq with HPF an low pass ones to help maybe with boominess of the 2x15s tryin to reallt learn like
Is the most tone speaker size a cab or generally speaking with cabs that are somewhat similar both built with high end parts an spec are all good is thag the same) ya kkow? I know I’d rather have a genzler array but if I can save 5-600
Bucks an if it’ll sound generally same why not. Mesa re sells okay im sure I could jump back genzler if it really backfired. I jsut don’t want to do another show with that BOOMy stuff. An I do cut the bass an spike mids I just need more which made me
Think mayeb a re/q would work
IMHO if you can a/b the stacks first, just trust your ears and roll with what sounds best to you.

Can someone tell the what 10 inch driver is used in the BA 10-2 series 2 bass cabinet, is it a Faital or something else?

This Series 2 cabinet is using all LaVoce Neodymium speakers, 10" and 2". The 10" is a little dynamo driver, offering great performance --- both in output and frequency response. One thing we like about all of these drivers is that they all use the important inside/outside voice coil windings, which is a very important design and performance element. Even the little 2".
That makes those so much more effecient and durable.

My new BA 10-2 series 2 cab arrived yesterday. I haven't had a lot of time to spend with it yet but I think I'm really going to love it. Question: Was there suppose to be any kind of paperwork, manual, warranty card inside the box because there was nothing. This cab replaced a returned Mesa subway 115 which is a fantastic cab, but I decided to go in an entirely new direction with these smaller/ lighter array cabs since I'm mostly just playing inside the house right now. I could immediately tell the mids and high end dispersion were on another level with the little BA 10 and to tell you the truth I don't think it lacks much bottom end if at all compared to the Subway 115 cab. The SW115 however can get much louder with the same amp and bass settings, not that the little BA 10 doesn't impress with the amount of volume it puts out especially considering it's size. The cab works well with my older Warwick 2x8, the sensitivity of the two cabs is nearly identical so no one cab is dominating and the combination can get really loud with lots of bottom end and detail. I do however intend to get another BA10 in a few weeks just to keep things pure. I love the 19 lb weight of these cabs making it so easy to move them around. I imagine 2 of these cabs would match or even better a Mesa SW210, a cab I've admired for some time, plus by running two BA 10's I'd would be running my Mesa D-350 or Aguilar TH-350 amps at 4 ohms at their full potential, whereas if I had the SW210 they would be running at 8 ohms. I'll post some photos of my set up once I obtain the second cab. My concern here was if or not I'm missing from the box any paperwork or a warranty card that needs to be sent in. Thanks

@Moonskunk ---- Thank you for the purchase of our BA10-2-S2 cabinet. The warranty registration of our products is done on our website, under the INFO tab you can see WARRANTY REGISTRATION. There is no documentation that comes with the cabinet for this purpose.
If you have any other questions please feel free to reach out to me in a PM or email.
Thank you.

Added a MXR 10 band eq to the board tonight. I think it really helps our bring out eveb more musical tones especially with fx. When you can dial in the eq just perfect the filters reallt sound wavy an no clipping or just really smoothe sounding. For me I can cut bass to my 2x15s till I get my 2x10 but still I think it’s a hand tone shaping tool if you want more control especially room to room an with active amps an a lot of pedal if that’s you. Or distortions. I always felt like my fender jazz was more plus an and play

Hi Jeff,
Interesting info on the inside/outside voice coil windings. Was this design change for Series 2 due to real world documented cases of voice coil damage to the Series 1 speakers? Or was it simply to reduce the potential for damage across the product line? I haven't heard any rubbing or rattling from my Series 1 BA210-3 cabs, but want to insure best survivability. Secondly, do you upgrade Series 1 cabs to the new inside/outside voice coil windings and is it a simple swap out or, are other upgrades necessary?

I can't speak for Jeff, but I think I read that the move was prompted by supply chain issues. The search for a replacement lead to the series 2 and the associated benefits. (Jeff to clarify).

Funny story to share with the group from my gig last night.

8-piece Zydeco gig at a pretty full dance hall (200-ish people). Big Meyer PA, 4 18" subs, tons of monitors, soundman etc....I show up with my Genzler MG350+Bass Array 10 combo for onstage monitoring, trying to keep things quiet and not fight with the PA.

The entire night the soundman is telling me to turn down and that I'm too loud to even put any signal in the PA. I was around 20% on the master volume and filling the entire room with sound. After the the gig, the soundman was asking me, "what is that cabinet! it sounded so loud and clear throughout the whole room!" . Love my genzlers, even if they work too well sometimes!

Genzler Preamp/DI vs RE/Q
I have the 350 combo with either a MG12T-V (or two) and now 2 Series 2 BA10-2s, so I am quite fond of the tones I am getting. Problem is our rehearsal space has an older 15" GK combo and I can't get anything near the tone I want from it. I expect the Preamp/DI would get me very close, if not spot on. But what about the RE/Q.
Since I don't really want to spend any money, spending less would be preferred. Or I just it suck up and accept the poor sound at rehearsals. Maybe it's the 15" that's throwing me off. But I suspect not.

The Pre-DI would be a better solution than the RE/Q for this application, and it would also give you additional options for shows where the back line is provided.
