Looking to get a Nu Classic for smaller gigs. To use as a standalone cab. Either the nc-210t or the nc-212t.

They are both the same width / footprint. So me gut says get the nc-212t.

Which would you choose for a standalone cab, and why?

What speaker configuration have you used/preferred previously? I have and like both cabinets - my preference seems to be the 210T. I find I have to tame the low end on the 212T to keep it from being too boomy. The 210 is 8 ohms and the 212 is 4 so for an amp like the MG800 my approach would be 210 when I can get away with it for a smaller gig and the 212 when needed for more power from both the cabinet and the amp. There's no wrong answer fortunately with Genzler gear.

I use the NC-212 for my indoor rig. I can't say I'd ever call it "boomy" as I've found it really well balanced across the range but with that classic cab sound to it. It does hold it's own in the low end, it's easy to transport, and at 4 ohms, brings the Magellan amp to life with lots of headroom.

Un -solicited thoughts...

The BE D-210-BX deep 2x10 coax, goes every bit as deep as your S-15D cabs. If ya can hack the Bag End weight (let's me out) the 210 deep coax cab is generally a steal used... If you can live with a slightly larger cab a used Genz Neox 212 is really good!

I bought one to try and really liked it. Took it to a production provided gig and the sound guy bought it for use in his backline. I really didn't need 6 bass cabs. Glad I had the opportunity to experience that cab though. And seeing as if I'm not on sound, he usually is, I can play through it on local festival stages with out moving it (for the win!)

In a 2x10 sized cab but with better, smoother lows and better upper mids dispersion. Some flavor of boo-teak 2 way 12/6 cab. A fearful 12/6 would be a great choice.. Beauty of the 6 is the very broad dispersion. You can get right up on that cab and still get note definition. You have to be quite a bit further away from a 2x10...

Magellan 800 in-bound. I've really been liking the Magellan Preamp and Quilter Bass Block 800 combination. I'll let those rigs duke it out.

Ok. That one was misleading as it was under a tent. But this one is indoors!

I think I’m now leaning to the NC-212T. Seems to be a great cab for both small and larger venues, for only $100 extra. More flexibility. Only 44lbs. Same footprint - that is they key.

I play finger style p bass with flats. Prob a better match.

High pass filter pedal can take out low freqs, if too deep.

Can confirm: the NC-212T is awesome and the best cab I've ever owned. I liked it so much I ordered a second one. Unfortunately, I was just informed that it wouldn't ship until mid-November and that was after ordering it Labor day weekend. I guess I have plenty of time to decide which head to pair it with.

Contour B is another great way to trim the lows and highs for a flatwound-friendly "vintage" bass sound

I have owned so many rigs in 57 years of playing but this rig ended it all. Most of the time it is just the BA210-3 and when outside I will add one of my 12T's. Thank you Jeff

@4Mal --- Thank you for choosing our MG-800 head. I hope you enjoy the tone and simplicity. Regarding our optional MG-800-FTSW, it is a latching switch.
