the Series 2 BA10-2 arrived today and I've gotten to play around a bit at living room volume.
a couple thoughts...
Of my 3, if I had to pick one... it is still the 12.
the gen 1 10 has a lot more grunt but especially less low end. The series 2 seems flatter with more bottom end and some more top end.
they all seem to play together nicely - any two or all three.
All three are huge. I don't want to ever play in a setting where I would need more than that on stage. I can only imagine some of the bigger rigs many of you use.
I don't need to swap the older ones for series 2s. Indeed, I'm not sure which of the BA10's I prefer. The differences are real but not to the degree that either series would make me run to replace the other.
At this point I will use just the series 2 for my small church gigs, the series 2 + one of the others (not sure which yet) for my winery gigs all 3 for a couple of dance gigs I have coming up
Got some time with the Kinetix and NC 212 in my living room. Sounds really nice. I went ahead and rolled two RCA 7025’s and one GE 7025 in! I’m making the assumption that the single tube by the input is “V1”, the middle tube handles the EQ, and the last tube (far right) is feeding the DI? Total guesses, but no noise (my first concern) and it sounds…great! I’d say a little warmer and glassy? I don’t have any way to compare and it doesn’t matter really. Can’t wait to really crank it with the band. I’m going to try the DI out into a powered monitor here shortly and compare with my Noble.
Nice report. To be fair the new BA10 series 2 may need a little break in time to strut its stuff. Also, I don't know how you went about making the comparison but I would never judge two speakers while they were stacked. Depending on (location) if it's the top speaker or bottom speaker they will sound different even if they are the exact same speaker. With the BA 12 being a bit more efficient then the 10's does it tend to dominate the other two speaker cabs volume wise or do the three cabs balance nicely in that regard?
Just took my new MG212t/Mag800 out for it's first show at a biker bar. Kept up with my guitarist's half stack no problem. A buddy of mine got this great pic with the rig in the background!
I tried the cabs in a number of different positions. That said, there was nothing scientific about the comparison and lots of details that could interfere with making any solid conclusions, not the least of which was that I had to swap cables between each listen which put enough time between the comparisons to allow me to forget some of what I was hearing.
As for the 12 dominating a mix… it does not in my estimation. The efficiency difference isn’t that large. the tonal differences seem to work well together.

No, there are not plans for a preamp version.
I’ve owned plenty of preamps that were bigger, heavier and didn’t sound as good as this all in one. Some were much more expensive!
I would describe the series 1 BA10-2 as having more grunt. The drivers are different than the BA210-3 so observations would not transfer to that cab. I haven’t had enough experience with the Series 2 to really comment yet. It is flatter in response than the earlier version, and much more transparent… closer to the 12 but still somehow, less, to my ears. I need to spend some time with it at gig volume. Unfortunately I don’t have a gig until the 21st.

Well, I had an unusual gig yesterday. I was running my usual rig (Kinetix powering a BA15-2 and an MG350 powering a BA12) at the Dickens Opera House in Longmont, CO. The room is so boomy and resonant that I finally just turned off the speakers so that the FOH could do their job. So, I've gone from my rig covering a good sized outdoor venue to being off altogether.
The true perfect plan: buy a Kinetix. When needed solely as a preamp, use it that way. When needed solely as a power amp, use it that way. When needed as a self contained head, use it that way. 3 great uses from 1 great box. Win win winThe perfect plan: buy a Kinetix, rip off the power amp
