I can tell you a 210 plus 115 rig (I call it the hidden Mickey rig, due to its resemblance to the Mouse at times) will give you more absolute low end than two 12s. But, whether that's what you're after, that's harder to confirm because we are not you.

the 2 12's will not lack for low end, but nothing compares to a 15 for absolute low end. that's IME.

Trying to figure out what I'd like in terms of new cabs, but I'm really intrigued by the Bass Array series. My old rig was an Eden WT550 into an Eden D210XLT and an Acme Low B2. I've begun the transition by moving over to a SushiBox Finally + Empress ParaEQ MKII feeding a Quilter BB802 on the preamp/power amp front.

I play 4 strings, mainly rock. Looking to go lighter, but still retain the punch (D210XLT) and low end reinforcement (Acme B2, kinda playing the role of a 1x15)

My question is this - would a pair of BA 112-3's kinda do the same job as a 210 + 115 rig? I've been eyeing the 112 for a couple reasons - cheaper to get my foot in the door, smaller, more lightweight - and if I manage to get the series 2, it should be a perfect match on power ratings for the BB802 (and most class D heads I'd be likely to end up with in the future). Anyone else made the jump to 112's? It seems like the right in-between, I just want to make sure I'm not losing too much punch from the 210's. I also know the D210XLT has a baked in mid hump, but if I end up missing it, I'll probably tackle it with EQ.
@tidbits --- Thank you for considering our gear. My thoughts on your questions would be to start by matching your speaker needs more closely with the instruments your using. Sounds like you've not used a 15" and 2x10 combination yet (using 2 dual 10" cabs stacked) so it might be that you would not prefer the 15" and 210 combo. I would say that our BA2-112-3 cabs are cetainly full bodied, and will reproduce all that your 4 string instruments may deliver. If you were using 5 string basses, this might be a different discussion about the possible combinations.
I don't have experience with the Acme cabs, but I would think that our BA cabs would be a bit more efficient than that cab and more natural sounding than the Eden D210XLT, which I do agree that those have a bit of a mid dip to them.
The BA cabs will have a smoother response, and provide plenty of natural LF response as needed. Punch and definition is always a part of what the BA design offers. Dispersion is completely different with the BA cabs.
So do your question, I think comparing what 2 stacked BA2-112-3 cabs could compare to more traditional 1x15/2x10 combination, it could be very close, certainly and then you have the consideration of 12" cabs being smaller and lighter, which is what you're looking to achieve as well.

Just wanted to say thanks to Jeff for great service to our big band UAB bass player. She has been using an Acoustic Array Pro for a few years. During rehearsal last week, it was giving a very buzzy sound. She contacted Genzler. Jeff called her the same day and got repairs scheduled right away.

So for our gigs this weekend she will have to suffer through with my Mag350/BA-10-2 combo. Jeff, thanks for the fast personal attention to this.

I moved to a single 1st gen BA12-3 from an 4 ohm Acme B2 shortly after the BA12-3 was first released. The BA was not noticeably louder… likely due to being 8 ohms vs. 4. The BA was significantly lighter in weight. If I remember correctly, it felt as if the low end was a bit more hyped on the Acme compared to the BA but the BA never struck me as lacking anything in the bottom. The mids and trebles on the BA felt smoother and more balanced. I was playing fretless exclusively at the time and was so impressed with the vocal quality of the mids on the BA compared to the Acme. The BA sits nicely in the mix and the dispersion is really impressive.
Since then I added a single 1st gen BA10-2, and then a 2nd gen BA2-10-2. I prefer the bottom end of the 12 even to the 2 10 inch cabs together. The 10’s do add a bit more punch. They all seem to play nicely together and the 3 cabs at once are really wonderful even though I have mixed generations. I expect that staying in one generation is likely better yet, but again, I’m not feeling any loss. It is nice to have the two 110’s for flexibility sake. At church I usually bring a single 110. For different gigs, I use various combinations but prefer all three together. You may want to consider a single BA12 and either 2 of the single 10’s or one 210.

Thanks for the replies everyone, I know it's a bit of strange inquiry, but all the input is greatly appreciated. Maybe Jeff and others are right in that I don't actually need the 1x15 - but I know for certain i like the extra low end the B2 brings to my current setup.

Also thanks @Djadja for chiming in about switching from a B2 to a BA12-3, and comparing to the 110's in the lineup. I think I'm going to track down a BA-12-3 SLT and hopefully follow up here in the future.

You'll be wanting that 15. It slays! The Genzler BA cabs are very open sounding, you will want all the bottom end you can get. Go check out Nate Navarro's videos and see what he plays.

Fly Date in Daytona, FL at the Peabody Auditorium. I have a rig but not advertising!! I’m faithful to Genzler!!

Dennis Elliot - Original drummer from Foreigner stopped by our show to say hello!

That is fabulous, Joe! What an honor! Did he sit in on a song or two, or just was he just a happy audience member?

Art must have been beside himself.. (FJ drummer)

Mo' inFo: Dennis Elliott - Wikipedia Interesting guy, became a sculptor after music retirement. Obviously a happy Florida resident! How neat that he came out!

Has FJ gotten to meet any other members of Foreigner or Journey?

Have a great show tonight! We want a report, of course.. :)

Got a last minute call this past Thursday to see if the band could fill a 90 minute slot over at Poodies Roadhouse here in Austin. Drummer couldn’t make it so we did things as a trio. I decided to use the house cab but brought my MG 800 to try and squeeze all I could out of it. It definitely sounded better than the last time I used it with the house amp but man….this Behringer 15 is not a good sounding cab. I didn’t feel like trying to mess with it all that much and since the PA carries the majority of the load I kept the volume low on stage and got through. The bass sounded great in the FOH though! :smug: This was the first time we had this particular sound man there and he made a comment on how good it sounded/how clean the signal was when we did our line check. Another W for the MG800….

I took delivery of a Series 2 BA-112-3 SLT last week and got to use it at at practice last night - it sounded GREAT! The detail it produced was incredible - I've never played a cabinet like that. Articulate is the other word I hear used a lot when describing these types of Hi-Fi cabinets, and it definitely shows when you experience it first hand. Any concern I had about it not being punchy or deep enough was immediately gone.

With this amount of clarity through the speaker's I'll have to use my EQ a little more thoughtfully - I was able to reduce the amount of bass I was boosting, as well as pull down the LPF to manage some of the clank I probably wasn't hearing due to turning the tweeter all the way down on my Eden.

@Jeff Genzler it's an incredible piece of equipment you've made, and I'm grateful to be an owner of it. Thank you!

so then the question really is, "what do I need to add to this? If anything."
I play in reasonable volume settings with finesse drummers so could get away with the single BA12, 90% of the time... probably more. The single BA10-2 that I added first was enough for 50% of my gigs by itself although, as a single cab, I do prefer the 12. I do use a single 10 for some rehearsals, for church gigs, and for occasional restaurants or wineries. When I was able to add a third cab, I wrestled with which to add and decided on the generation 2, 10 because of its added bandwidth and power rating over the 1st gen 10. I thought it might be a happy middle between my two 1st gen cabs. FWIW, I think the difference between the 2 generations is not huge at least in the ways I use the cabs. I do think sometimes that I'd like to swap the 1st gen 10 out for a second 12, but the weight and form factor have stopped me from doing that. I have either size as a single cab, options for two cabs together, and when I want, all three. As I have hinted, the two 10 inch cabs + the 12, using a Magellan 800, make a serious rig. I can't imagine needing anything more for anything I do.
