Genzler Amplification Club

Is the other one maybe an AGK P2? I started looking at other mics on the site since they make the D112 and I’m 90% sure that’s the other mic
Nate always lists the mics used in his videos at the end or during the video where he shows them. Might be good to watch a couple where he is showing how he mics the Bass Array.

Another couple of fun shows this weekend. The 2nd photo is from Copper Shot Distillery which has a small stage and a covered patio that’s maybe 20’ X 50’ for the audience. First time in a looooong time I used the cab to carry the room…..PA was vocals only. Our singer Cinnamon is actually a sound engineer by trade so she gave everything a listen from the patio and had us adjust accordingly. I had the pre gain and EQ at noon, contour at 10:00, pad button engaged and master at about 9:30…. :smug:. I took some video but I think where I had my phone placed and some of the compression it does took away some of the low end and made everything sound a little thin. Will have to start looking at some other options.

The Magellan rig arrived, very fast shipping direct from the G men. Wowzers. The two contours on the MG800 are very musical and very effective. The FET drive channel is too although I find its usefulness diminishes as I crossed about 1:00.... No biggie, if I need more I’ll turn to pedals. What it does, it does very well. Adds growl and cut. I’m still getting over how such a small footprint makes so much volume. May get it off the floor for home use. The house quakes lol

Might need some compressor. I dunno I like going straight in like this.

Yeah Nate is amazing. I watched his demo of the Klos 5 string the other day, and was blown away by his speed and precision.
Yeah, he comes across as a really cool guy too, not up himself or anything gross like that, just a genuine bloke that loves the bass....and man, does he feel that thing.
His thumb work blows me away...how he doubles up and the speed & precision he obtains when doing so is truly mind boggling...WOW!

Today I just would like to say a big THANK YOU to @Jeff Genzler for his fantastic bass amps ... I'm a owner of a Magellan 800 (big stage and rehearsals), a Magellan 350 (small stage and backline) and the Magellan Preamp DI pedal (In-Ear-Gigs) ... these amps never let me down and always deliver a good sound - regardless whether I play a Stingray or Precision :)

Hi guys, I have a question about hooking up speaker cabs to the Magellan 800.
I have the bass array 4 x 10 cab and didn't realise it was 4 ohm.
I want to put a 15" (not genzler) under the 410 mainly for outdoor gigs.
What would happen if I used an 8 ohm 15" cab (400-500w) under the 4 ohm 410 with impedance set to 2.65 on the amp?
Am I going to be asking for trouble?
And would I get full performance/efficiency from the added 15"cab?

The reason I ask is I've seen Andy Irvine hook up a 410 & 15 as well as hooking up a 410 & 210, all bass array cabs and just set the impedance to 2.65.
Correct me if I'm wrong, the 410 is 4 ohm and the 15 and 210 are 8 ohm cabs.

Is what Im wanting to do basically the same thing even though the 15" wouldn't be a Genzler cab?

I really appreciate your help with this, many thanks.

You should be fine. When you hook up an 8 ohm cab and a 4 ohm cab in parallel (either by daisy chaining or connecting each cab to the amp outputs) one third of the amp's power will go to the 8 ohm cab and two thirds will go to the 4 ohm cab. You may want to put the 15 on top of the 410 so you could hear better if it struggles,

Thank you ahc,
based on your 1/3 & 2/3 explanation I'm wondering if using a 210 bass array cab with the 410 would be more efficient?...(that was actually my initial plan).
I suspect the overall sound between the two cabs would be more balanced than a 410-15 combination?
I was thinking a 15" cab may give me a fuller bottom end when needed as opposed to a 210.
The bass array 210 cabs are a little expensive here in Australia...AU$1800 on sale and a good 15 cab isn't much different, approx' $2000 so it would be a bit of a costly exercise if I get it wrong.

@Super4 -- thank you for using our gear. Using a 15"/8 ohm cab is fine, the sensitive of that cab would be important when better matching the total output of the 410. But a quality 15 should add foundational depth under the 410. If you choose adding our BA 210, you would certainly get more punch and the extra cone space would give you that feeling of added depth as well.
Email me if you have more specific questions about what your options are downunder.

I think @Jeff Genzler answered your question. You won't find a better source of advice/information. Mixing cabs from the same company is always the safest bet. One thing I'd add is that the size of the speaker only tells you how big the hole in the baffle board is. There are 10's that produce more bass than some 15's, and 15's that are more middy than some 10's.

Hi Geoff,
thank you very much for your response and thank you also for making some of the best bass gear available (I've been buying your gear since the Genz Benz days...absolutely loved the GBE 1200).
I really appreciate your explanation of the 210 and 15" cabs and what sort of performance I can expect from them.
I'm going to stick with the bass array cabs, probably the 15 after reading your response and I've noted there is one available from the Genzler supplier in Sydney (I think this guy's the only genzler distributor here in Oz?....Bass Gear Direct, Sydney, Australia).

I really appreciate your time Geoff and I wish you all the best for the future.

Hey everyone. I've always wanted a full range solution in a bass cab but I'm simultaneously very cheap. So, these were on my radar but I've been hesitant to get one. Well, I found a great deal on the 1x12 and drove 60 miles out of LA to pick it up. Got it home and even at super low volume I'm impressed. Can't wait to get it in the room with a drummer but I am a little concerned I'll need to add an extra piece, probably the 2x10.

I have been running a Little Marcus 800 amp for a few years but I've never loved the 5 band EQ on it. I used to have an AMP BH420 with the semi parametric mids. I really like being able to fine tune those freq. I'd like to finally match my cab to my amp too.

Could I feel secure in terms of reliability/serviceability with an older Genz Benz shuttle? Which current genzler amp would be good for me if I'm planning on adding the 2nd cab? I thought I might just pick up the Magellan 350 to dip my toes in. I never had to push my 800 past noon to keep up with my drummer.

Anyway here's the pic of the of this fabulous cab that I picked up for almost $300 less than the cheapest one I could find anywhere else. I'll take a number to join the family.

We're VERY fortunate to have Geoff Genzler here on TB.
I've never come across this sort of customer liason before in my life.
To take time out, from what I would think is a very busy schedule, and personally respond to customers enquires/queries tells me that I absolutely made the right decision when purchasing my bass rig.

Numbers are self-service in this club. Take any one you like.

I think that's a good decisions. I have two of the 12s and one 15. Played all together, they are a monstrous rig, even with an MG350.

Thank you. I appreciate your kind comments in both posts. Yes George at Bass Gear Direct can certainly give you some additional guidance. He's our guy in Oz land.
Thanks again.
