Genzler Amplification Club

Something to consider is the 212 is 4 ohms whereas the 210 is 8 ohms. This means the 212 can be more of a single cab solution that can work across multiple sized venues and rehearsals.

I love mine and have been using it for indoor venues, smaller stages, and quick setups for years now.

Did NOT know that! Thank you!

I think I’ll go 210 for flexibility, save money, and I don’t have to pay for shipping. Apparently the 212 is too heavy/big for free shipping.

I think either way you are going to be happy. I almost got the 210, because I was used to 10" speakers, but decided to go for the 212 instead, and I've been very happy with that purchase. All I need is my MG800 and the 212, that is perfect for almost anyplace I play.

I might get the 210 later or perhaps the 112.

I can’t imagine you being upset with your decision. Every Genz Benz/Genzler cab I’ve used has been top notch. Personally I would part ways with a few extra bucks and have the one cab fits all solution in the 2x12. It is a few pounds heavier but the handles are higher so there’s less stress on the knees and back, plus it’s really light in the first place. The 12’s give a bit more low end beef that is very satisfying.

Yeah Im overthinking it. Don’t want 4 ohms and the extra cost by going from 210 to 212 is turning me off. I’m not at a point where I’m playing large venues, etc.

I just want quality equipment for jamming and playing smaller shows. Right now all signs point to 210T.

Knowing my dumbass I’ll probably up spend to a bass array.

Loving Jeff G creeping around in this thread watching my dumbass over think a $1,000 purchase. Love you Jeff.
:smug: I know you’re being funny but I’ll just say this. I don’t know Jeff personally…..but this is my take and what I’ve noticed over the last several years of being a Genzler user. Let’s say you had the budget to buy a pair of BA410’s and an amp but came in here and said my musical needs are XYZ which might only require you needing a single 12” cabinet in reality. Where other companies might say….yeah buy those dual 410 cabs Jeff is the type of guy that would say…save your money, you only need the single 12. He always seems to want to help and make sure we as Genzler users get the right setup for our needs and not push gear to just make a sale and cash in. IMO. I say that a lot in this thread but the customer service aspect of things is a huge deal to me and has been a deal breaker with some other companies for me in the past.

The NC115-T is another option and puts out enough sound to probably be all you'd ever need, either that or just buy one BA10-2-S2 now and if you feel you need more SPL, get a second one later.

One BA10-2-S2 puts out an amazing amount of sound for its size.

I'm playing two BA10-2 S2 cabs with an MG350 head and I can honestly say they do not lack low end. Prior to this I was playing an Epifani UL2 212 cab with the same head. The difference is more low mid punch with 10s vs a rounder bottom end with less of that quick transient response you get from 10s.

I also wanted to be able to use the full 350w from the amp as I was able to with the Epifani cab which is why I bought two cabs. That set up also allows me to use only the one cab that is part of the MG350 Combo when that's all that's needed. Then I have a 23lb 175w mini rig I can one hand very easily.

I can't help but thinking that whichever way you decide to go you'll end up with a great sounding rig that will be with you for years to come. I also had cost limitations to factor into my decision as well as weight limitations due to my back and while I overspent my initial budget as well I've never regretted it.

FWIW I just did some math calculations here and hope it may help.

Based on list price a MG800 with an 8 ohm NuClassic Cab list at $2070 and will provide you with 400w of output. An MG350 combo with a BA10-2 S2 extension cab list at $2200 and in combination at 4 ohms will provide you with it's full 350w of output. The difference in output/headroom should be marginal at best.

The difference in cost for roughly the same output but with Bass Array speakers is $130 list price. But I believe you said you could get a 20% discount on the rig which would then reduce that to $104. While it's true you would just be losing the drive channel of the MG800 if needed that can also be remedied by using a 4 on the Floor OD pedal to take it's place as I've done. Just more food for thought.

I think it would be a winner…ceramic, relatively light, smaller height than two stacked 15’s, tilt back with wheels…:)

My NC-212 has been incredible. It has been my #1 cab since 2023. Maybe I should get a 1x12 and stack it.
I get to take my Magellan 800 and Nu Classic 212 out today for its first live performance. I cant wait!

Is it safe to use the MG800 I have coming with something like the BA10-2 S2?

I believe the amp is 400w at 8 ohms and this is rated for 300w. I’m ignorant, but I thought this was a risky mismatch.

There is the BA2-112-3STR that’s rated for 400w at 8ohm. Maybe that’d be sufficient for my needs. If I need more juice down the road I could add another. Any thoughts?

Having ample headroom on your amp is a good thing. Set the gain and volume appropriate for your cab and listen for any signs of speaker distress like fart out or distortion that’s not part of your desired signal. If your rig sounds good and handles the gig, you’re fine. If it struggles to keep up and turning up only makes it sound stressed without providing that oomph you’re missing, you need to add another cabinet.

Two separate questions.

1) Only if you limit it's volume. You wouldn't want to pound it's full 400w output into a 300w cab.

2) An MG800 with as BA112-2-3STR or SLT would also make for a great rig and you could easily add a second cab later if needed. That's yet another option and probably what I would've done had I bought an MG800 rather than my MG350 Combo.

Thanks for the help everyone. I reached out to Jeff directly since I keep going down paths chasing threads.

Ultimately I proposed one of these options to Jeff:

NC 210T
BA2-112-3
BA2-115-3

He was kind enough to give me his number and we’re going to chat on Monday. I’ve been clogging up this thread and you all been super patient and helpful with me. Jeff should set me straight and get me jamming!

My gut tells me I’m going either BA2-112 or BA2-115.

Thanks for all the kind comments. Aaron, We'll chat on Monday and make sure you choose the right cab for your current and future needs. Talk soon. Thanks again for considering our gearing.

Can you go into this a bit? Most NuClassic clips I’m seeing online are coming from Genzler - would like to find more 3rd party review and discussion
I own and have gigged with a variety of both Bass Array and NuClassic cabs, and to be honest, I find the NuClassics to be just as "good" as the Bass Arrays, and perhaps even more in line with what players might expect from "traditional" bass cabs. I absolutely appreciate the admittedly higher end components and thorough/thoughtful design behind the Bass Array cabs, and they do communicate the higher frequencies a little differently. I definitely have more gigs under my belt with the BA cabs (with my current fave setup being two BA115-3 SLT's), but I have had great experience with the NC115/NC210 stack, as well. In fact, I occasionally loan out gear to trusted friends and two top-tier players who ended up borrowing my MG-800/NC115/NC210 rig thought it was one of the best rigs they had ever played. I'm pretty sure at least one of these guys is now a Genzler endorsee.

In short, I think you would be very happy with the NuClassic cabs.
