Class-D was originally patented with tubes, but didn't really work so good until fast solid-state switching devices came around.

The concept patents go back a long ways. Class-A, Class-B, Class-C, Class-D is not really a huge separation in time. Class-D only seems recent because it works so well with new Solid-State. Cheap, Reliable, lowest THD of any amp in history, efficient. Class-d is 90% or the entire audio amplifier market these days.

All Engineered in the USA. And I'm sure if any amp ever has a problem, it will be field repairable at many service centers with readily available parts.

A lot of people seem to have problem that IcePower is a replaceable module, it so rare they have to be replaced that it's a non-issue, but it goes against the old style tradition of buying a repairable amp. I hope the new design allows some repairs, if it's only rarely, sometimes you just never know about revisions that may be needed. Although revs get more rare these days.

A lot of the high end test gear these days include the features in the hardware but control access to the features through encrypted codes purchase with subscriptions. Once in a while some hack is found to bypass the codes, but it at lease keeps honest people honest. The advantage is less models of the gear, lower entry prices, and upgradable features over time that one can buy when needed. Some of it is by hours of use. Now that would drive everybody around here nuts but I'd like it. I hate paying for extras I don't need, but I hate paying much more for features I didn't think I needed but needed after all. Subscription type features are working out well. They all usually include demo period hours.

This is cool with me. I really don't care so much about where Jeff has stuff built as long as he is the one overseeing the design and manages the service behind the product. He has proven that a Genzler product will be well designed, supported and serviced. Made in the US is a a positive point and is good for sales, but my view is that it's a world market and people have to survive in it. Jeff will find the best balance for his company.

I was a sucker for the G-B Shuttle 6.0 combo on a 12T when I played my first note through it. I told my wife I wanted it for Christmas, and that's what she did for me. I sold my Sunn Coliseum amp (which was an absolutely wonderful amp) and have totally enjoyed the portability and sound quality of the G-B products. I now have a Shuttle 6.2 docked on the same 12T cab, and a Genz 210T cab that stacks beautifully under the combo. They simply blow away any other amps I've heard.

I suspect the only thing that could ever make me buy another brand of amp is to find another, new model amp made by Jeff Genzler!

Anyway, so I must say that this has come as a complete surprise. I don't think anyone saw this coming. I totally thought there would be some sort of re-hookup with Jeff and GB now that FMIC sold KMC. Oh well, shows you what I know! But I will be Switzerland in all this and say I wish everyone well :D

I think this is an interesting development. However, any amp from Jeff Genzler & company has a difficult, uphill battle with me. I just don't see another amp unseating my #1 - a Shuttle 9.0. I switch basses like they are disposable, but my amp is a constant.

And that is totally OK.
We remain very proud of what we achieved in the past.
But that is behind us----- although I will always be available for support as best I can.
This new endeavor allows us a clean slate to move forward with creative new designs that we hope players will find intriguing.

I would if I still had a darkroom. My main preference in film was 4x5 or larger. I have not used the Ries with my 6D yet but that could change depending on my needs; it is a super stable tripod that has seen up to a Roseman 11x14 camera (very heavy), but mostly been used with various Wista, Linhof, and Ebony 4x5s and a late '30s Deardorff 8x10.

This is the 8x10 enlarger I had in the darkroom. :cool:
