Genzler Amplification ! New Genz Benz ?

I am so close to pulling the trigger on a pre-order but really want to try one first as I really hate to return items.
I used to own a mail order business and you’d be surprised at how many take advantage of buying with little intent of keeping and making the item B stock for the vender plus time wasted.

No offense, but the demo video didn’t sell me but I’m a huge Genzler fan based on my SM9.2.
Both basses sounded very similar and the playing style is much lighter than mine although I am primarily a finger player.
I’m sure we will see a huge variety of videos in the near future.
Any comments on how 3-D the soundstage of the amp with conventional neo cabinets?
I hope they get to the stores soon!

I tried a bunch of different playing styles with the Magellan. It responds really nicely. I too, primarily play finger style. I usually have a pretty light touch, but for demo purposes I put the amp through the paces. I dug in at the bridge, the neck, over the pickups, even employed a kind of "hammer fingers" technique. The Magellan took everything I threw it's way. I'm not going to say one plucking position or style was best, but I definitely noticed the changes each and every time. These changes were noticeable without changing any settings on the amp or the bass, just technique. I would be hard pressed to find a gig where this amp could not give me what I need.
More videos are definitely on the horizon.

Not yet, but I'm curious.
From what I've heard, it's a wonderful amp and it definitely has the Boogie sound. That's a great sound, but never one that compelled me to spend dollars. Granted, I'm just speculating. I may try it out and find it is a very different beast entirely.

I did a quick search on "Genzler Magellan HPF" and turned up the above. I'd thought that you and/or @tombowlus had commented on the way the amp was high-passed elsewhere, but I'm not spotting that. From the above, the overdriven channel is high-passed higher than the clean channel, the the corner frequency rises with gain... How about the clean channel? Can you comment on where and how that's high-passed?

Mark. Yes the Clean channel has a completely different HPF design. This circuit is in the 30 Hz range and is a steep 24 dB slope. We've designed this to provide the benefits a HPF provides but also keeping the ultra low frequencies rounded and controlled. Compared to previous GB designs you'll find this Clean channel to deliver more depth and openness. .....if that helps to describe the MG800.

I've been paying more attention, lately, to how different amps handle the very lowest frequencies. There seems to be a lot to it -- more, I think, than just selecting a slope and corner frequency for the HPF, though I could be wrong -- and a fine line between having the low end feel attenuated and having an amp that just punishes speakers unnecessarily. I know that, in lead sleds, transformer choice has something to do with it, but I don't know what parallels there would be with SMPS amps, if any. Anyway, with the way my tastes have been trending and the cabs I have now, depth and openness of low end is part of what I'm going for.

Yes, the increased depth and openness to the lows - compared to previous GB designs - is indeed, quite evident (and a big plus, for me!). :thumbsup:

Yah got a warning just yesterday when I was depending on the (now non-existent? broken?) filter :( . My "infraction" was no more egregious than yours.
