Think about it, 500 more watts is like adding a markbass 500 watt amp on top of a magellan. Of course it will be more impressive. The 800 watt amps are "loud" enough, but the 500 watts of extra headroom is what gives you a solid wallop at that level. Anyway, I'm done debating it. The magellan is a great amp.

Even at the same volume, massive headroom has clear benefits. I guess you have to experience that to get it, perhaps. I couldn't agree with you more.
Still curious to try the Magellan. I have an MB800 that I like. Not over the moon by any stretch, but I like it. I use it for local gigs where I double a lot. Though the MB800 does a serviceable job on both upright and electric, I'm still searching for an 'upgrade.'
Mine just arrived a few minutes ago, can't wait to give it a workout!
Interesting perspective about power that I have not considered with class D amps.
At 14 lbs. the B2000 is very close to what is considered micro amp with just a bigger case.
Sounds like in the big picture, you would take the B2000 over the Magellan assuming weight and size was not a determining factor.
FWIW, I could never fall in love with the 7 Pro; not because of the power output but rather a tone / clarity thing.
OK I had the chance to crank this thing up through my Bergantino HD212 and it continues to impress. Tried my J bass, Roadworn P Bass and a friends Ibanez BTB that I'm working on.
The projection is just awesome. The only other class D I've heard project like this is the Berg. That may sound strange but I've had amps that sound good up close but walk 10 foot from the cab it's a whole different thing. This thing just punches it out. What a great feeling!
It can do my bread-and-butter clean, aggressive, in your face J bass with rounds tone no problem. With the drive and two contours I can get some great variations as well. All sorts of cool bridge p/u tones; my mind is blown.
Some amps have a hard time with the mids on my maple necked P and get all ganky but straight-in-clean is sounds great. A little eq for the bass and players deficiencies and it's even better. Slightly over-compressing my P bass with a Diamond comp and a touch of the drive channel sounds so cool. I hate to say tubey but man.....note feel.
Lately I've been so frustrated with wimpy amps and tone. I don't want an amp that's overly hifi but also don't want one so colored that I can no longer recognize the acoustic sound of my instrument. So refreshing to play an amp that can be clean but still has some balls.
Fwiw- Please don't let my predilection for an aggressive tone scare you away. Between the drive, contour and a simple but extremely effective eq this amp covers a lot of ground.

Any chance that we could get a fancier foot switch that controls channel, contour settings, mute and has a tuner?
My Magellan finally showed up today. Very impressed with the build quality. Ready to go put it through it's paces at practice.

Man, I'm loving the Magellan 800. Not only is the amount of headroom incredible, but the low end is very thick. You can dial in top-end the snap easily, but you never feel like it's at the sacrifice of the lows. The contour B is useful for giving fingerstyle 16-note grooves some more punch in a live mix. So far it pairs great with the Tecamp S212.

I tried the Magellan 800 briefly with the TecAmp 2x12. I found that the sound was very sharp and biting. I'm guessing that would be pronounced in the upper mids. Not saying that it's a terrible thing, depending on what you're going for. If that was the backline for a gig, I would have to do some heavy EQ work to dial in the warmth I found when playing through a stack of Magellan 112 or Arrays.
I think had the Tecamp S212 (4ohm) tweeter set to soft attack on the lows and played my Atelier Z J bass through it. I'll try it with my Sire V7 at a gig tomorrow, but I didn't hear anything too biting with the tone. The Magellan really reproduces the tone of that bass much more than any of my previous amps (RH450, TH500 or LMII).
For me it's all about that mid control. I love how you can dial in some low mid thickness or punch or put a little extra "bite" on the notes. That sweep-able mid control rules. I assumed it would be like the sweep-able mid on the Tone Hammer or even the Shuttlemax but it's somehow different; more effective.
This is how I feel about all the basses I've run thru mine. Really an impressive amp.
Mine should be delivered Friday (MG800, MG212T). It'll get an immediate trial by fire at a gig that night. Pretty excited to try it out.

I did Trial by fire when i had it for a short time as a demo.. Its easier than any other amp that i took out of the box and brought to a gig.
No BS, it pretty much sounds good right out of the box. Just turn up the VOL and you are good to go. It really is that easy with this one.
