Yeah, sure, let's! I am totally down with it! It ain't my money, I don't have to haul it or set it up so get your freak on! All I ask is that you warn me before you fire it up so I make sure not to be traveling near the New Madrid Fault Line......Guess I better think about whether I should be adding 3 more for a 9 stack.... All what the heck lets do it!

I would in fact consider myself more low key. I'm just not one to write a review but I feel it necessary to do so this time. As a little history about myself I've been playing for over 20 years (smooth jazz, contemporary gospel) now and have been financially blessed to have any equipment I've ever dreamed of or wanted no matter what the cost including having well over 100 + instruments custom made. Please don't read into this as me being arrogant or bragging. I feel the need to say this not to brag but so that you know I'm speaking from my heart and not my pockets so speak....let me explain...I honestly feel that most people give you their opinions or reviews on gear depending on their budgets. And when I was younger and first starting to play bass in my teens and twenties I made many mistakes listening to such people say things like "this is the best piece of gear ever, way better than this or that boutique piece of gear that your wanting to buy." And I would purchase the gear they recommended because they were at the time better musicians than me and I respected and looked up to them. Long story short I never really did like the gear I bought... after some growing up I found out years later they were speaking from what they could afford not really from what they would really buy if they had a unlimited budget. I've had many guys discourage me from buying $10,000 guitars and talk me into buying their brand of guitars because it was "cheaper and "better." Don't get me wrong I'm not saying cheaper gear can't keep up with boutique because I've had a few surprises in my career but they were far and few between and for the most part the saying is true.... You get what you pay for! I now only trust 1-2 muscian friends in my circle concerning gear reviews the rest I take with a grain of salt so reviews on TB really hasn't held much weight with me. Therefore I rely mostly on me, myself and I to determine what my ears like and I suggest you do the same. This is Just my opinion take it or leave it. Just want you to know I'm speaking from the heart and have no other motives. That being said, here's my take on things.
After much research on the Genzler, the engineering, the design etc... I decided to order 2 bass array B12-3 cabs. I did see the Magellan 800 amp but immediately thought to myself "another useless lightweight head that can't cut thru anything but it sure is the best looking head I've ever laid eyes on." Lol...Right down sexy. Anyway after looking at a list of vendors on there site I immediately saw a vendor I was fimiliar with and trusted as we've done business over the years with no problems. By the way this is one guy I trust to as far as opinions on gear go because even though he could loss the sale and have sometimes lost the sale he has always been honest with me concerning if gear isn't up to my specs as he knows what I'm looking for. By the way he had nothing but great things to say about the cabs. Ok ring me up. As we are getting ready hang up he asked me if I wanted the head also. I told him that I'm not up for another light weight "class D" amp that's 6 lbs and sounds like it's 6 lbs when I play. After laughing he said I should really try it. I say ok I'll try it but I'll be sending it right back to you if it sucks. He agrees and we hang up. Two days later UPS is at the door and I'm already skeptical because the cabs have no tweeter and the head is a micro. I hook up just the cabs to my lab gruppen power amp and my millennia TD-1. Oh my God! This is the tone I've been looking for absolutely hands down the best 12 I've ever heard. Are you sure there's no tweeter in these cabs. After about a hour I open the box and hook up the head to my Bergantino 410 to see what it can do. I hook everything up begin to play with it and starting thinking yeah another useless micro head...until I fooled around with eq and contour B. Wait a minute this thing is starting to sound good... Now the true test lets turn it up and see what it can do. Then I remember the wife is sleep. I'll try it another time as I'm sure it won't live up to my standards anyhow. Long story short I knew I loved the cabs but deep inside I still believe the head could not do a medium or large gig (even though I read it could on TB). I received the cabs and head on Friday and Saturday was my daughters 18th b-day so I never play with it again until Sunday. I liked what I hear from the cabs but now it was time to test them in the real world after all we've all heard what seemed to be good sounding cabs at home but on the gig it sounds terrible. Sunday morning I get up and begin to gather the gear I would take. I knew the cabs where going but not the head. I was loading up my truck and at the last minute I looked at the Magellan 800 amp and decided to grab it with the thoughts try it first and if it doesn't cut through you still have your other rack.
I get to church hook everything up and Wow I can't believe the tone these 2 cabs and light weight 6 lb micro head is producing. I would consider my church medium size and I had the volume on my bass turned all the way up and the volume on the Magellan at 12:00 for master volume and a 1:00 for the gain. Everything set flat. Contour B set to 1:00. We begin sound check and wowsers I could not believe the sound and neither did my keyboard player or drummer. I'm in bass heaven! After the first song the drummer ask me "is all that sound coming from those cabs and that head" lol, keep in mind I had no PA support. Needless to say I never even thought once of changing out heads. I heard every naunce played. Honesty I really had to clean up my technique a little. I could not believe how every note I played just soared about the mix with ease and our keyboard player is LOUD! The weight of each note could be heard for miles. After church my drummer and keyboard player said "you need to get rid of all that other stuff and keep this" and that's exactly what I'm doing/did. I was a die-hard Bergantino fan (by the way I still have a HD410 for sale if that's your thing). And the bergs still sound good but the bass arrays are just special. Worth every freaking penny! Well the concludes my review and I hope this helps some one at least want to try it for yourself. I personally think afterward you'll be coming to the same conclusion as me and selling your equipment. Lol By the way I'm not in anyway endorsed nor did Jeff ask me to do this. I love great engineering and this is as good as it gets. At least for now until technology out does itself again.lol By the way Monday morning I ordered me some more cabs. I decided to order another Magellan tomorrow. I plan to use them both to power my big stack of B12-3's. I plan to come out of the send of the first amp and into the return of the second. I'm thinking I'll be getting rid of at least one of my current big racks which has some pretty high-end stuff in them. Enough babbling....now for the good stuff pictures....and yes now I am bragging

Two Berg NV's with a CA9 is definitely something I can relate to!
I've played two gigs with two NV cabs, a bar and an outdoor one. It was glorious, I just didn't turn up as much.
You know, it's just amazing what goes on outside of your own little bubble. When that 9 stack 'wall-o-doom' gets assembled I WANT PICTURES!
You know, the first thing that struck me as I started scrolling through those rig pics is, "This seems like a really low key kinda guy."
In truth, I very much see a kindred spirit! Thank you so much for taking the time to post and share your thoughts, here. I'd love to hear more from your perspective (on any gear, really!).

Okay Tom I can see how it looks but I really am low key-lol. This is the first time I posted any pictures (that I can remember) of my gear on TB other than what I would sell. Maybe the 10 years of not posting all came out in this post. Or better yet I'm just so excited about this product that I could do nothing but spread my joy. I woke up early this morning and on my way to the fridge to wet my mouth looked over at the rig and just smiled....warm fuzzy feelings all over. Felt like I was looking at one of my children who just came of age as a proud father.
As far as the kindred spirit (OK maybe I have 1/4th of your gear kindred spirit). No sir your gear list surpassed mine by a long shot and so does your review reputation so we'll just let you continue with the reviews. Seriously, over the years I've learned to value your opinion about gear on TB and have made some good decisions based on your reviews so thank you for that. Your one of the guys I will take an opinion from concerning gear and I don't take that lightly. I've just never felt this way about cabs and an amp so you guys excuse me as I celebrate and feel free to join in knowing that one of your fellow bassist will never ever be out played by a guitar rig ever again.
We are all truly blessed to be bass players in these times. And thanks to Jeff Genzler for engineering greatness! A good buddy of mine for years would tell me that I needed to try out Genz-Benz but I never got around to it. Wow I can only imagine what I was missing nevertheless, still think I'm better off this time around with Genzler as the wise only become wiser with time.

Finally someone who understands me. Lol....it's not about be loud as more knowing you can be loud if you choose to. Again most guys won't dare to drive there super car 200 mph but the fact that they can if needed is the reason they buy it!
So according to this post the 12-3 has a extremely respectable 110-120 degree horizontal dispersion. Keep in mind that most of your standard club use PA speakers are 60-90 degrees horizontal (QSC's K/KW's, JBL's PRX, JRX etc,etc; not talking array speakers here). Three stacks of 12-3's fanned out to abate frequency cancellation/reinforcement etc. would have between 330 and 360 degrees horizontal dispersion....perfect for your next gig "in-the-round".

That is possibly the best post in the amp section on TB since I've been a member. And I thought four Ubers were overkill!!!
The reviews on Jeff's new lineup just keep getting better and better.

Holy-moly, 9,3/4, serious gear.
No envy though, I'm very happy for you to have that setup, but I'm equally happy with my setup:
LOVED the cabs straight out of the box, and they quickly replaced my 2 EBS 410 Evolution.
Have had the head for a couple of weeks and didn't quite gel with it until last night.
I always felt it was stunningly made, great size and weight (just right), great set of features, plenty of punch, and that Contour B. Played it at home, rehearsal, and a couple of gigs. Yet somehow I wasn't quite happy - it wasn't "my" sound (EBS1v2 pre into Peavey IPR2 3000 DSP), super-clean at any volume. Just could't get that.
But last night it all fell into place, or possibly more correctly my exceptions of "my" sound were slightly modified. With a slight bass and mid boost, and a slight treble roll-of on the Z2, I used the clean channel (gain between 9 and 10 o'clock), Contour B at about the same position, EQ flat, and master at about 11 o'clock. And it just fit, and worked. If anything I was probably a little too loud on stage but there was so much clarity, definition AND punch in each note it wasn't funny. It sat perfectly in the mix (in terms of sonic space, like I said maybe a little too loud). And the DI (pre-EQ) signal was apparently quite spectacular because quite a few folks from the audience commented on the bass sound. So all's well that ends well.
I now have a rig that fits into a small hatchback (rather than a medium-sized wagon), is a single loading on a small trolley rather than at least two trips), and sounds better.
Considering how punchy 2 are I can hardly imagine 6 BA12-3s - enjoy - I know I will.

Yet somehow I wasn't quite happy - it wasn't "my" sound (EBS1v2 pre into Peavey IPR2 3000 DSP), super-clean at any volume. Just could't get that.
But last night it all fell into place, or possibly more correctly my exceptions of "my" sound were slightly modified. With a slight bass and mid boost, and a slight treble roll-of on the Z2, I used the clean channel (gain between 9 and 10 o'clock), Contour B at about the same position, EQ flat, and master at about 11 o'clock. And it just fit, and worked. If anything I was probably a little too loud on stage but there was so much clarity, definition AND punch in each note it wasn't funny. It sat perfectly in the mix (in terms of sonic space, like I said maybe a little too loud). And the DI (pre-EQ) signal was apparently quite spectacular because quite a few folks from the audience commented on the bass sound. So all's well that ends well.
I now have a rig that fits into a small hatchback (rather than a medium-sized wagon), is a single loading on a small trolley rather than at least two trips), and sounds better.
Considering how punchy 2 are I can hardly imagine 6 BA12-3s - enjoy - I know I will

Glad your happy with yours I'm sure happy with mine! Just feels like these cabs were made for me. I can think of a few times that I'll use the total 6 stack maybe outdoor gigs and stadium. For the most part I'll be using 2-4 cabs. Just purchased another Magellan 800 now whether I use my big rack or just the 2 magellan's I'll have more than enough headroom. I like to keep as much headroom as possible. Everyone has there tone and I believe the head can't emulate many styles. Believe me I'm one of the guys who refuse to sacrifice tone for weight. I would carry a 62lb amp the rest of my life if it gets me my tone over shedding 56 of those pounds for a lightweight amp that makes me feel sad and depressed when I'm playing. Let's face it music comes from the inside of you and is a very emotional thing. The ability to improv and communicate music for me has a lot to do with first how it sounds and secondly how it feels when the sound is played. A bad sound doesn't spontaneously inspire me to play anything...same for playing on a bad instrument. Thanks for chiming in my Genzler brother!
