I think all amps should have a “Destruction Mode” switch!

Maybe I’m looking for a reason to have the best home-use setup without compromising the rehearsal opportunities. I’ll be using it more at home than at rehearsal or gigs, but I don’t want to sacrifice anything. Maybe I’ll ultimately get both!

Two 1x12's you can plug them both in and have the meat of them together when you want it.
When wanting only one for the easy load or to not scare people by the size of a taller box just bring one, leaving one home.

The two 12's in one box, got the meat all the time.
One tall box at all times, good if it is good for you and your situations.
Can not take just one speaker.

Forget about the money, which situation works best for you?

I’m picking up a Magellan 800 head and am deciding between a 112t cab or. 212t. Is a 112t enough for medium volume band practice? I play in an alt rock band. I love the idea of a 112t for portability and home use with the Magellan 800, but buying two would be costly vs picking up a 212t. But a 212t seems like overkill for home use. Thoughts or experience to compare the differences?

I use the 112 and 212 with the Magellan 800. The versatility of this setup is about as good as it can get as you can get enough power with the 112 for most practices at 25 lbs, and add the 212 (50 lbs and same footprint as the 112-fits easily in my prius C) for performance to move that air. DI also sounds great so there is that option as well. What I like most is that I used to haul 1 of three different amps, Mesa and Ampeg, based on the venue, all with different sound. Now I have pretty much the same tone at any volume level, and more room in my studio. I also have a Genz- Benz Shuttle as a backup which to my ears sounds about as good as the Magellan, but a little less power. I'm playing in multiple bands, rock to funk to upright and I never feel like I'm compromising with tone vs power vs weight. I don't think you can go wrong with anything from Genzler.

Hi, I currently own the magellan 212t. Thinking about adding a 112t. Will it produce more bottom end? Clarity, projection? What has been your experience using both cabs?

Frankly I'd recommend our MG-112T (our previous version, not the MG12T-V) only because it has the same foot print as the 2x12 and it will couple the best, in my opinion. And coupling is where you'll see the benefit of the additional 1x12. You'll certainly get more output from your amp (assume your amp can run below 4 ohms) and you'll get more dispersion, depth and "punch" with the 2x12 stacked on top of the 1x12". AND you'll have the option of using the 1x12 on it's own if you ever need something small and a quick grab and go for some reason.

I have the MG212T (under a Streamliner 600). It sounds and feels fantastic at any volume. But just as important, it's very easy to move around with reasonable size and weight, plus great balance. I moved from 2 Aguilar 112s the the Magellan and am much happier in all regards. But that's just me.

Thanks Jeff, you're a stand up guy. I'm not quite ready to pull the trigger yet. I have a couple of other cabs that I no longer use after I got the 212t. Gonna sell them first. Was kinda hoping I could find a used 112t in great condition. I'm also gassing for that 115 array you just came out with. You've got too many great toys to choose from.

Awesome. Do you know if there’s a tonal difference between 2 112t and the 212t? Is the sound different just because it’s one speaker at 8 ohms vs 2 at 4 ohms?

I believe if 212 is 4 ohms then actual speakers are 8ohms each in parallel; you will get more power output from amp at 4ohms. Sound/tone may still be slightly different based on cabinet difference
