Good morning from Alaska GOF's. Roll call. Please report all appendages accounted for, and mostly in an acceptable condition for this long wonderful Labor Day Weekend! Well, wife and I are going to attend various small town events the next three days. There will be music tonight at the harbor shelter, tomorrow night a jam with friends. I get to try out my new (old) Ibanez lefty MusicMan clone, and tonight wife makes me her famous ribeye on the grill. Life is good in Sitka, Alaska. :)

So what say ye, GOF's? What have you planned for the long weekend? And by the way, Happy Labor Day!

Have a four or five hour walking trip to a market planned for Saturday. Some songs to work on. An instrument setup to do.

I have it in my head to buy a recorder. Probably either a soprano or alto.

How do you like leasing? I'm down to less than 9,900 for my "new" Subaru. We've been doubling payments when we can, and I'm thinking of the Big R in about three years. I've considered leasing but we now own one 2010 Subaru with less than 10,000 miles on it (wife's car) and mine with 17,000 after a year and a half. I kind of like the idea of owning my car, but I've heard of the benefits of leasing-- such as maintenance and insurance if something happens.

As far as plants go, Carey and I are experimenting around with hydroponics. As we live in Alaska and don't have a big garden area, we are hoping we can grow indoors. We started with a small indoor micro-greens planter that will be growing "mixed salad greens." It won't yield anything serious, just enough to try out and dip our toes in.

Happy Labor Day.!
I'm kind of wishing I hadn't done it, since I now feel like I'm kind of caught up in needing to do it again. I leased this time because my income was uncertain and it was a little cheaper month to month, but in retrospect I could have handled the bigger payments. I doubt I'll get a great deal on buying this one or just turning it in because it's got a bit of extra wear on it. But it is what it is. I'm not horrified at the idea of upgrading to a newer model on a lease.

Present, unaccountably. Celebrated birthday 70 a couple days ago. Since I hever expected to reach 21, it's a thing to think about. Interviewing a couple of prospective adopters tomorrow. Old Time jam Monday. No other plans, I hope.

Happy belated!

Happy birthday, Mike. I know what you mean about never expecting to get this far, or anywhere near it. I was always the same way. Oops. Now what do we do?

Hope you have fun at your jam!

There've been a few famous folk who said if they'd known they were gonna live this long, they'da taken better care of themselves.

That made me think of this film.

Some are destined to influence and save lives. You've done very well on both accounts.

Here (Hear? What? :roflmao:). Nothing special planned for the weekend, just dinner with some friends tomorrow, and getting ready for the ABR (Architectural Board of Review) in a few days, for our driveway/foundation project. Went to see the surveyor today to get some hard copies of the site survey we had done a couple weeks ago.

Good luck with the hydroponics, Will. Maybe, check in with the Biosphere 2 folks.

Looks just like Sitka, right? :D

Yo! Present! But not really an accountant. I don't even play one on TV!

Regular Sunday morning gig. Thankful that the MD remembered to call me tonight and let me know he changed one of the songs. But, he didn't update it in DropBox!!! Ok, ok, he begrudgingly sent me a link to the new song. It's as if my wanting to practice on my own before the Sunday morning rehearsal is so inconvenient for him!

Family coming over, also on Sunday, so skipping the routine afternoon nap that day. One granddaughter got a headstart and came over this evening. Something about starting a sewing project with MawMaw (who is over the moon about it)! Monday may, or may not, see some of the fam still here or coming back over again. Both, we hope!

I’ve found a favorite Young rock band!

I'm all nobody would really cover Melanie, would they? Would they? At least (we hope) nobody's doing Zagar and Evans covers. I'm not looking. Please don't tell me if so.

In early 1984 I played in a band that was slated to back her up on a tour. Fortunately, I escaped in time. Not sure what time I ended up in.................
