There's tie dye and there's Spencer Gifts tie dye.
In my day I was barely visible, just like now. Maybe it's a good day for one of my choice tie dyes, a Shakedown Street purchase from Frost Amphitheater at Stanford. Except it's only 12 C this morning, been feeling autumn even as Lughnasadh approached weeks ago. But it's going up to 27 by late afternoon, all of which makes a case of what to do for this last Friday in August. Which is actually kind of simple here, need to go cross-town to play Go to the Head of the Class

Well, wife and I are going to attend various small town events the next three days. There will be music tonight at the harbor shelter, tomorrow night a jam with friends. I get to try out my new (old) Ibanez lefty MusicMan clone, and tonight wife makes me her famous ribeye on the grill. Life is good in Sitka, Alaska.

Always make it a point not to go into labor on labor day. Here on the Isle of Everywhere the plans call for Saturday morning at the growers' market. Who knows what may be there to bring back. It is certain there are three smoked bones for Odin from the organic beef ̶g̶e̶e̶z̶e̶r̶ gentleman. Not one to run the guess-your-age booth at the carnival that's next to throw-the-over-inflated-basketball-at-the-non-regulation-hoop booth, gonna take a hard pass at just how old this gentleman who sells smoked bones may be. We'll say I believe he's older in human years than I and leave it at that.
The other organic beef folks (a family with children) have frozen burgers that are very good, and available on the grill (for breakfast). Next to them a middle-aged couple who raise pork. It's local but not organic. The breakfast sausage is quite good but that isn't high on my list. Looking for eggplant and there'll be winter squash now or very soon. About the last of the sweet corn.

And oh wow, conference call Sunday. Thought they could wait until the first Saturday of September. Unfortunately I know what it's about and wondering when that other conference call is going to be called. You know the cell phone sonic screwdriver is a lot like a new age beeper.
There was a time that Florida was considered an ideal place to throw all of us GOF's. Not so much anymore. Sadly. We need to seriously wake up to our climate change and decide if there's anything we can do about it. Too many poor people having their lives ruined. Not to mention floods, tornadoes, etc.
I am a breakfast sausage fanatic but we are slowly moving away from too much meat, especially red meat. This weekend we are trying (GULP) Morning Star vegetable sausages. What's amazing-- it's MY request! Go figure! Too many of my peers dying due to health issues. I'm very healthy but not to tempt fate...
Got a show tonight with my little not-very-serious band that everyone wants to be serious about, anyway. One 45 minute set, early. Then it's back ta home. Not much else planned for the weekend; I need to get a few things organized that I've been putting off, so I might start looking into getting those done. My little experimental garden is not doing very well. Not sure what I'm going to do about it for next year. I've managed to get two crookneck squash off the vine; my tomatoes are toast due to rodent interest. I don't believe in putting poison out and the organic things I was told to try as deterrents don't seem to work, so chalking that up to the gods of "oh, well." I need to find a solution before next spring, if I want tomatoes ever. We live in a fairly wooded neighborhood and the rodents here are of the tree-dwelling variety, so they travel along power lines and fences. I do have a dog with a very strong prey drive, but one dog alone is not enough to chase all the critters away.
Other than that, just business as usual. Had a decent rehearsal with 4/5 of my main band last night. Drummer is sick and I'm a little worried about him but hopefully he'll be ok.
Present and functional. Not much going on this weekend musically for me. Seahags family reunion is tomorrow so we'll be heading to Pa. for the day. I've been working on getting her MC windshield buffed out from her incursion in Wyoming a couple of weeks ago. There's hope but still more work to be done. Anybody know any good tricks for buffing out a lexan windshield? Looks like i'm going to have to sand the whole thing out first to take off the original finish coat. It won't be perfect but I think I can get it quite usable. Better than four or five hundred bucks for a new one. I did part of it with 250 , 800 , 1500 , 2000 , and 3000 grit paper. Then polishing compound and a plastic finishing compound. Worked well where I did it but it didn't blend in well with the parts of it that I didn't do anything to. Oh well. I have plenty of paper so I guess I'll get started on just re doing the whole thing. Probably gonna take up the better part of a day. Hmmmm , anyone wanna guess what I'm doing on Labor Day?
Everything is still attached and appears functional but, I haven't tested everything out, recently. Staying home this weekend and setting up the new motorhome. No driving for me, I avoid the crazies on a long weekend.
How do you like leasing? I'm down to less than 9,900 for my "new" Subaru. We've been doubling payments when we can, and I'm thinking of the Big R in about three years. I've considered leasing but we now own one 2010 Subaru with less than 10,000 miles on it (wife's car) and mine with 17,000 after a year and a half. I kind of like the idea of owning my car, but I've heard of the benefits of leasing-- such as maintenance and insurance if something happens.
As far as plants go, Carey and I are experimenting around with hydroponics. As we live in Alaska and don't have a big garden area, we are hoping we can grow indoors. We started with a small indoor micro-greens planter that will be growing "mixed salad greens." It won't yield anything serious, just enough to try out and dip our toes in.
