Love it, given the unending and alarming predictions from the so called experts, it is no wonder that if there is a real problem no one listens to them. They just scream doom constantly to contrive bigger network ratings. Enough already. Predictions were much more accurate when they used weather stations instead of computers.

They aren't any more accurate. They just have to fill hours of TV time, as opposed to 90 seconds before 24 hour news and weather. Same ways news is no longer news. They have to fill 24 hours a day rather than .5.

I haven't seen Pat in a few years. I think the last time was sometime in 1983! But, that was in a smallish club, and I was right up in front of him, maybe 6' away. :)

The first time was just a few years prior to that show, with Joni Mitchell in 1979. :bassist:
That must have been a great show. The one time I saw Joni she got pissed off at the crowd and stormed off stage.
I've seen Pat a few times, notably with Ornette Coleman, where half the audience came expecting "Are you going with me", got pissed and left. And a few years ago with the Unity group where he played the Pikasso and then hauled out the Orchestrion. That was a bit of fun.

He opened the show here with the Pikasso. Fun stuff to see and hear but IMO that sort of stuff is a little gimmicky, however he's allowed to have whatever gimmicks he wants, I suppose. I was glad he got that out of the way up front because the rest of the show was epic.

Like many disasters, reporters get 'face time' and hafta say something. Even if there's no accuracy involved. We have one anchor in this area who's so dramatic I can't/don't watch that channel's coverage. And, BTW, what does a fire in some northern state have to do with "local" news.[it's good video-BFD]

I have a theory that the networks are in with the grocery stores/ convenience stores to hype up storms to sell more bread and milk. I mean how the krap much milk and bread does one need? Has anyone actually been “stranded” in their homes for so long as to justify 6 gallons of milk and 5 loaves of bread “just in case?”
Then after they buy it they hang out at the store and yak it up with the other alarmists whilst watching the storm...;)

On the news you see people buying all the sheets of plywood that they can carry in their vehicles. Do they throw it out after the storm season and buy new next big storm?
Short answer: yes. They don't have a place to store the wood after taking it down, so it gets 'chucked'. An inexpensive 4x8-or even 3x5 storeroom would be less than new plywood next time-and might get a discount on homeowners insurance. Full disclosure: I'm not an insurance agent; I don't play one on TV; and I've never stayed in a Holiday Inn Express.:smug:
