Sorry to hear that."Six weeks" is the time out of commission for the fusion surgery, the doctor says today. It ain't noticeably better with the cortisone, tissue won't regrow, no Fountain of Youth discovered.
Bob Dylan makes every day better.

Is joint replacement a possibility?
Sigh! Odin and Thor will be by your side.
Sorry to hear that.
It's bone on bone at the Subtalar joint - Wikipedia so fusion is the only option now if "ignore it and hope it goes away" is discarded as the other option. Seemed to me the doctor drew a lot of blood when she drained the bursa sac in that joint. Went all over the place!
Asked if I will still be able to tap my foot and the answer is in the affirmative. I tap my right foot pretty much exclusively. Hey it took a lot of work to learn to tap my foot! <ahem> I'll lose lateral movement in the joint. There are other considerations to be taken up before intervention. Yes, Odin is a great blessing! I look forward to walks with Odin this summer.

Oh you meant the foot, not Bob Dylan!

Monday in Sitka and it almost feels like Spring. Odd because so much of the rest of the country has had bad weather. As we get older, it takes longer to get the tree up, get decorations up, and plan for Christmas day. Seems like less of an event than when we had kids at home.
Which is fine for Carey and me. If she's ok with it so am I. We're starting to buy stuff we need for the house and calling a gift to ourselves, because we know these things will make our life more comfortable. I'm disturbed watching every channel and commercial emphasize how important buying new gifts for Christmas is important. It would be nice if the kids were taught the meaning of giving on Christmas, not what new X-box or smartphone they hope to get on Christmas. Bah! Humbug!
"He sounds just like the composing room foreman [complaining]" is a nearly-exact quote from a friend listening to Bob Dylan sing. And I had to agree he is right. Same composing room foreman I spent many a night with at the after-hours lemonade stand. The lemonade stands newspaper people tend to visit after presstime tend to be the sort of places where [angels gather] well something like that. Fun times listening to our server's time in the pokey for some casual indiscretion. This is how I learned about reading shampoo bottles as a pastime. Words artfully arranged can bring comfort. The slot editor, when asked at said lemonade stand what he does, replies: "I make designs on paper".
Oh you meant the foot, not Bob Dylan! LOL LOL
..........For me, being able to execute a passage "the hard way" means..........
Considering the age most of us have reached, this phrase has more to do with a daily constitutional than it does bass technique.![]()
