Regarding SW, I was not enamored at all with chapters I-III, and hated the digital makeovers of IV-VI. We watch VII and IIX to get up to speed and learn about the new characters. Glad that Lucas finally has the DFX well integrated into the live action footage. A very fitting end to the series (well, we'll see about that..............)

A doc once told me that many say that it’s worse than child birth. It’s the sense of urgency before hand which can go on for days. You lie down and feel you have to get up. Get up and you want to lie down.

All things must pass.

I've been through these things four times. Took two or three days to pass each one. Whatever pain meds they gave me , I at least doubled the dose. Demerol worked the best. Didn't totally kill the pain but a double (or triple) dose at least left me loopy enough that I didn't care. Managed to catch two of them and have them analyzed. Calcium. Quit drinking two or three glasses of milk a day and haven't had another one on over fifteen years.

Don't remember what I took for gall bladder pain all those years ago, but it didn't help. I thought my surgery would never come.

Whoa! Dude! I feel for you.

I believe tramadol is a fairly lightweight pain reliever, but doubling my dosage at night helped me sleep last year when my L3 & L4 discs ruptured. I got too loopy to do that during the day. Nerve pain the full length of my right leg made me OK with amputation. Again, I thought my surgery would never come. Fortunately, the laminectomies were quite sufficient and I'm walking fine ever since.

Okay I"m at work and it is a frozen vanilla yogurt I take at tea time that begins the series of events that takes me to the hospital, where I'm diagnosed with a gall bladder that wants to go to wherever gall bladders go when they need to be elsewhere. Emergency surgery isn't indicated and I'm treated and released, high as a kite on a lot of Demerol. I mean a lot of Demerol because the guy who did the ultrasound told me I was on enough Demerol to put down a horse (so shut up and quit hyperventilating).

My boss and friend who has been waiting for me all the while at the hospital says he'll walk me to the train. Except it's now past the time the last train runs and we've got two hours to kill before the first train runs.

Guinness on tap solves the time problem and I don't honestly recall now if I went to work the next day or not? Ha.

I've never had true pain relief from an opioid drug. What I get from them is high enough that I don't actually care anymore about the pain.

Several years back, in ER with an attack of pancreatitis. If anyone here has had pancreatitis, you know. They rank it among the top ten worst pain events you can have, right up there with childbirth. So I'm writhing around on the floor and they wheel me back into a bed and give me... a vicodin. Or maybe a norco. Uh, not gonna do much. Eventually I end up with a prescription for percocet, which is better. But nowadays they won't give you anything, they just let you suffer, because chronic pain patients have to pay the price for people who become addicted. Which sucks.

Knock on wood, I have not had a severe pancreatitis attack since all that was reined in and I hope I never have another one. I've had minor ones where the pain started up but didn't get horrible. If I can keep it that way, I'll be just fine.

I'm sorry you're having something going on that requires this kind of pain relief. Hope you'll be ok :( .

Saturday Reprise

Being in a band in the 60's made you very popular with the girls. They wanted a pretend Beatle to chase. There was a lot of fantasy, life was like a dream.

The Poni-Tails were an record company managed group that had one hit that peaked at number 7. They tried hard to tap into the lonely teen market with songs like "Just My Luck to Be Fifteen" and "Come on Joey, Dance With Me".



Along the same lines was "Lonely Girl" by the the Centuries. Big in Oklahoma in 1963. The Centuries | Garage Hangover
