Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

I remember my job as a janitor in 6th grade. Well, actually I just swept the floor. My Uncle Benny, the head janitor, hired me. Did anyone ever sweep the school floors with lemon oil sawdust? They made the wooden floors look real nice.

I worked spring through the summer and quit that fall. I wanted my first real electric guitar. I bought a red/black sunburst Aldens electric guitar and amp. I remember seeing in in the catalog and getting so excited waiting for it to arrive. I also ordered a pair of Beatle boots. Remember those--the big heel, the pointed toe, and the elastic side panel?

Aldens electric guitar and amp: I got the deluxe dual pickup model with amp (actually mom and dad helped pay for it)! :)

Beatle boots: My God, I couldn't fit 3 toes into these nowadays!

Crap, Lefty. We must have grown up in the same neighborhood. My first bass and amp came from Alden's and yup, it was a Beatle bass. And the Beatle boots. And to top it off, a peacoat!!!

Holey Mole Guacamole! I had that double breasted navy peacoat too! You and I must be nearly identical in age. That was the style young rebels playing Aldens electric guitars wore! :D

I have a nasty cold.
I'm trying to take a nap.
People keep calling and/or posting on FB to wish me a happy birthday.
Just leave me the hell alone unless you have a gift for me! (Preferably Maker's Mark or Glen Livet.)

There is one major advantage to getting old, Paul:
People tolerate grumpy old men more than they do angry young guys.

Or maybe we just care less whether they do or not?

Here is one for ya'll.
I went to the store after the Doctor's today. A young woman (crud, late 20's early 30"s) rudely pushed her way in front of me AT THE SELF CHECKOUTS, a whole 2 seconds closer to the front door. I said loudly enough "Well excuse me!". She turned back and said "Kiss my arse old man." The wife of course wanted to tear her apart, but saw the look in my eyes. I said LOUDLY to her "Honey I expect dinner at least first."

I've been saving this one and it is absolutely true:
I was with a group of 3 or 4 young men and 3 or 4 young ladies shooting the breeze. All of them were at least twenty to thirty years my junior. I had a hopeless interest in one of the girls, a real head turner. The conversation somehow turned to sex and specifically the girls asking each guy how many times in a row could he "do it". Of course the young bulls were bragging, 3 times . 4 times etc. I was the last to be asked. I kind of looked at my feet and said sadly "You know, I'm getting older, so I'm only good for one time..." I then looked up squarely into the cute one's eyes and said loudly "But honey, you better pack a lunch."

Never did get the date, though.

True story:
I was in a band with my two youngest sons. I had 30+ years on them and the guitar player. My daughter in law, the singer/son's wife, ran the mixer for us.

One night as we were packing up, a woman (probably around 40) who'd been making a spectacle of herself on the dance floor, approached my D-I-L.

Woman: Do you think the bass player would come home with me?
D-I-L: Umm...That's my father in law.
Woman: Oh. What about the singer? My husband really likes him.
D-I-L: Umm...That's my husband.
Woman: Well...you're too skinny for our tastes, but you're welcome to come along and watch.

In the end, everyone went their separate ways.
