Ohhhh, I don't know about that. Their ancestors/precursors used to prowl the isles.
One of my first jobs was at one of those lunch counters. It was at a local drug store. I got paid minimum wage ($1.10) and from that and some money saved up from a previous paper route , managed to buy a Silvertone Twin Twelve amp.
Oddly enough, I had a job at a Kresge's while in college. What did I do? I cleaned up the lunch counter area at the end of the day.
Yeah, I was just going to say you can't get a grilled cheese sandwich and a fresh slice of Apple pie and a milkshake at WallyMart.
Having just returned from my trip to see my hairdresser I am happy ‘cos it only cost $20. That’s about $30 in US funds. 
When I was a kid, one week I asked the barber for just a trim around the ears. When he was done, I asked him how much it was. He laughed and said, the same as usual. For some reason, I got it in my head that since he didn't cut all my hair and it didn't take as long, it shouldn't cost the full amount. Needless to say, my arguement didn't go over very well.

Just got back from a trip to the grocery store and I feel compelled to do a grumpy old fart traffic rant.
What's with the trend of backing into parking spaces even though it blocks other traffic while it takes them 3 tries to get in the space and they're still not parked straight? What's the deal???
When did turn signals and stop signs become optional??? It seems like half the drivers can't be bothered with signaling and the same ones cruise through stop signs if they don't see a cop lurking.
Since when is it acceptable to defiantly pull out in front of oncoming traffic forcing them to slow down abruptly, or to cut over in front of faster traffic (without signaling of course) for no apparent reason? I was going 55mph with 1/4 mile of empty road behind me and an empty lane next to me, and rather than wait 5 seconds or pull into the empty lane, someone pulled out right in front of me and didn't even try to get up to speed. I had to swerve into the other lane and as I went by THEY flipped ME off! ***???
Ok, I'm done. I'm home safely and my BP is back down.

IMHO, this started with the use of cellphones.
It got a lot worse after cell phones. That stuff always happened before, but not as often.

And don't get me started on cruise control. But wait...it's usually a GOF or GOT (Grumpy..Old.."fill in your choice of feminine noun"), that's clogging the fast lane on cruise. Excepting Escalades, an occasional Prius, and opiate abusers.
I remember my job as a janitor in 6th grade. Well, actually I just swept the floor. My Uncle Benny, the head janitor, hired me. Did anyone ever sweep the school floors with lemon oil sawdust? They made the wooden floors look real nice.
I worked spring through the summer and quit that fall. I wanted my first real electric guitar. I bought a red/black sunburst Aldens electric guitar and amp. I remember seeing in in the catalog and getting so excited waiting for it to arrive. I also ordered a pair of Beatle boots. Remember those--the big heel, the pointed toe, and the elastic side panel?
Aldens electric guitar and amp: I got the deluxe dual pickup model with amp (actually mom and dad helped pay for it)!
Beatle boots: My God, I couldn't fit 3 toes into these nowadays!

I've used the green sweeping compound in a shop that I used to work in. Probably similar to what you used.

We used to use an absorbent sweeping compound in the theatre... we called it vomit powder (for obvious reasons related to how we sometimes used it)
Any sweeping I did was usually followed by a mop, many times with a disinfectant mixed in.
