Merry Christmas to all here who celebrate that sort of thing. We had a good day, filled with food and friends and relaxation, which I'm about to head back to. Hope all had a good day.

We had a great time today! More than a house FULL of relatives had plenty to eat and all took some home. All the kids loved their presents and were well behaved and grateful! (Who were these 4 teenagers & 1 pre-teen?) And, best of all, Mrs. Dog was very well pleased with the whole week, so far, with only occasional tears when missing her recently departed mother. I think the beautiful candlelight service last night really helped, a lot.

Well I did the deed! I called the Apple Store with a request for a reservation with a Mac Nerd. First available date is in early January! That’s not going to work! I eventually ordered my new 16” MacBook Pro over the phone. Tried to pay with may AmEx card but was declined! Paid instead with my Master Card. My new baby arrives on the 30th. Settle down to eat breakfast and AmEx calls to ask if it was me buying the computer. My attempt had triggered a Fraud Alert! <sigh> It used to be easier!

Personalized content delivery has been the dream of publishers as long as i can recall.

Strictly speaking from my experience, those who really care about type took the last lifeboats a good while ago. Uncertain who it is who remarked "news is the same thing that happened yesterday, only to other people".

Certain subjects lend themselves to notes in the margins. I do this with technical papers and books. When I play editor, I need a hard copy when ripping the content to shreds. This doesn’t work for me with an ecopy. I often have to jump back and forth bringing together sections when reorganizing the material.

Judging by the number of them on the shelves, cook and children’s books still seem to be big business. There are still elegant magazines and comic books but I wonder how long their run will continue.

I just called my sister in the UK as I couldn’t reach her yesterday. Today is also my late Father's birthday. She’s watching the Dam Busters movie. She said that our Dad was on that mission. I didn’t know, I’m ashamed to say. but Dad never talked about his wartime experiences. He flew with the fourth group of Lancasters. I wish I could give him a big hug right now!!
