Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

No cooties on me!

My doctor's office rang to remind me yes, still expected for my morning appointment. And I will be checked at the hospital entrance to see if I've been out of the country or in contact with any who now show symptoms. No on both points and unfortunately no on the first point because of all the gin joints ....

Was hanging out listening to some Country Joe McDonald today. Blessed to have seen him in concert.

Visits to the dentist have a new drill (pun intended). I had to answer a bunch of questions about exposure in the negative and have my temperature taken before being admitted to the treatment area. After getting into the chair, I had to swish a hydrogen peroxide solution in my mouth for thirty seconds before treatment.
I have very little social interaction during my work day. Only one co-worker, and we aren't interacting with the public, just our FedEx route guy. As of tomorrow, we're splitting our days. I will work in the morning and he will work in the afternoon (at full pay!). One PITA - our forklift is out of propane gas and the only company authorized to fill it is shut down. :rollno: The upshot is, I get to unload a pallet of paper by hand tomorrow. My workout for the week...

Suggest you use a pallet jack. Push as fast as possible, then stop quick. It'll unload itself.:smug:

A quick question for any in the know. I'm looking for something that I can plug my receiver into that has an AC outlet that is only active when the receiver is switched on. I don't like the subwoofer being on 24/7. It's working very well BTW. :)

The most cost effective solution is a power switch on an outlet strip. The thing is, the TV is always on, that’s how they do instant on. The sub-woofer goes into a low power standby like the TV. If you want the power completely off, everything should be on a switched power strip.

There is a way to determine what the standby power consumption is. If the spec is not available, I have a power meter that I bought at amazon. Search for killawatt, there are several options.

... assuming your receiver doesn’t have a switched outlet on the back....

Just to try to brighten people's days a bit: in the past three days I've had a dozen calls from people and groups asking how they can help the parrot owners during the virus...offering to buy food, foster care, rehoming, etc.

In the towns around here, various groceries and cafes are offering FREE breakfast and lunch to kids who are out of school, and seniors who can't get out to shop...including deliveries of the food.

A couple of the larger markets are offering special shopping hours just for seniors, so they don't have to be as exposed.

It may just be the usual "Iowa Nice", but maybe not. Not everyone sucks.

Shure cannot provide advice regarding what disinfectant methods are effective against the Covid-19 virus; any such question should be directed to appropriate disease control experts. This video relates solely to general information for cleaning methods for microphones.

The desktop works pretty well now and sees all its drives. For the curious and kooky, there's a SSD boot drive, an SSD applications drive, and two very large mechanical drives for storage. There's also a network drive kicking around here I use for backups.

In unrelated news, the front door of the hospital was staffed by a guard, and another who screened people coming in for the thing that's going around. The guard asked me if I had an appointment, I said yes, and he waved me past the screener.

Learned they are working now to see how many patients can be seen by teleconference. Which brings us back to the related point, this comp is pretty peppy and up to the task of teleconferencing. People saying they thought the apocalypse was going to be chaos and zombies, and it's teleconferencing and no TP.
