I found a clearer version in 1080p.
Interesting to note that the bass was a rental, SIR Studio Instrument Rentals. I assume that it came strung.
All I can see is that the strings are silver. I can't make out if there is any silk wraps to note the color.

With all that is going on with COVID-19 and everything shutting down, including live music, I thought I would post this.
Duck Dunn, along with Tommy Shannon and James Jamerson, are three of my biggest bass influences.
When I watch this video and listen to this song, I am amazed how good it sounds, especially since it it live.
My favorite part starts at the 3:00 mark.

I've always liked the effect of the bari sax doubling the bass line-very prevalent on '60s recordings that used an upright bass. It takes some serious lungs.
ETA: Bass sax is even worse. Played one a few times. Yikes!

I did not get into a lot of the pop music of the 80's and beyond so I skipped over the Crowded House posts.
Unfortunately, it is the 60s and 70s music that floats my boat (with no disregard to music that came after).

I saw Anthony Braxton playing some pretty big horns way back in the day at the Kool Jazz Festival in NY. Some had built in dolly arrangements, even. Here's a random pic of one, contrabass sax maybe? :
Yep. There are a coupla contrabass saxes: 1 an octave below a bari, another an octave below a bass. Then there's this-the tubax(I'm not making that up)sub contrabass sax

What is the ideal lung capacity to produce 30 hz? How much lung capacity do I really need to produce that tone if I have a passive high pass filter mouthpiece? Anyone have an excursion graph for the reeds?

One of the horn players in my old Seattle band is a very skilled horn repair guy, it's been his primary business since he was quite young. He sometimes liked to bring newly repaired instruments to our gigs for a road test before returning them to his customers. His GF was in the band for much of the time that I was and she loved playing the weird ones. Bass clarinet plus two electric basses got us fairly close to Spinal Tap territory, the three guitarists mostly got us well beyond that though.
