Thisi could not have been better said IMO!

With over 42 years of working in national defense (mostly Navy and Marine Corps aviation...which then layers on the typical general aviation and air traffic control lexicon) it still amazes me that we can hold a meeting for an hour and the ratio of acronyms and insider words to actual English langage words is often 5 or 10 to 1. I think I found myself saying an entire sentence one day that didn't have a single English word in it.

The funniest part is that generally if you stop someone mid sentence and ask what an acronym means, many can't tell you what the letters stand for, although they do know what they are referring to. Insider speak is useful in the work environment, but it is probably the worst way to share an experience with other freinds and colleagues who like most of us find the English language itself enough of a challenge to clarity in communication. :)
My all-time favorite Navy acronym as seen at Subic Bay Naval Base: FicPacFacFAPL which meant Fleet Intelligence Center PACific FACility Fleet Air Photo Lab. In other words it's where they developed the film from aerial photography. This was in '67, b4 digital. The big question is "why, after 53 years, do I remember this?"

Every week things get more extreme. Got up early, took the car tothe bakery intending to buy stock for the week. Waited thirty minutes beyond when the normally open, then left. Seems that they are now closed on Saturday and Sunday. Went to Home Depot, they are closed on Sunday as well. Same for grocery stores. Had no idea that everything would be closed. We bought some fries and were eating them as we walked. A woman came up in tears asking were we bought the food.

New restrictions seem to come on daily.

The acronym serves to confuse the enemy. Revealing the location might get you into trouble, even after all these years. Loose lips sink ships.

If the link is sound, then it's Green Tambourine by the Lemon Peppers. I looked mine up on the US Billboard to get Judy in Disguise (with Glasses)

According to that site it was "Tammy"-Debbie Reynolds(pop)or "All Shook Up"-Elvis(rock)-1957.
On my birth day, "Sentimental Journey"-Les Brown with Doris Day-1945.

Coulda bin worse...mighta been Pat Boone eviscerating a
Little Richard song... :rollno:

Speaking of "The Road", I'm going/have gone stir crazy sitting around the house. Now, if I choose to sit around, that's one thing, but I feel like taking a drive to nowhere, not interact with anyone, just go. Apparently, that's highly 'discouraged'. Oh, well, I do "need" to make a trip to the booze emporium. I guess that'll hafta do.o_O

Agree completely @GonePlaid . Please wear a mask and stay clear at least 6 feet. I only say this because we are in a particularly dangerous age group. While at the emporium, make sure you really really stock up! ;)

I was listening to Angel from Montgomery in possibly impressionable states of mind before his parents were old enough to meet.

I was 19 the first time I sang "I am an old woman..."

About a year ago I sang that song when some band I was in tossed me a bone and asked me to do a lead vocal. Weird to sing it again and realize that I actually am an old woman now.
