That'd be a decent one. I used to have a pair of AT4041 mics, more than your budget, but as good as most anything out there, really. AT mics are real sleepers in the field.
Audio-Technica are good.
Choosing a microphone isn't easy. There are so many options and there's always a better one that costs just a little more. I like these Lewitt products in terms of value for the money and performance, Lewitt Microphones.

I loved their first three albums and still do, Their later albums were sometimes spotty and yes Morrison was a huge drunk and ruined his career and his band but I thought he had a great voice although he burnt it out within a few years, to me they're still one of the standouts from that era. I especially liked the studio bass players they used, almost everything was done with a P bass and a pick. I don't think i would have liked them live except maybe for their first album's material because of the lack of bass live. They asked Doug Lubahn to join the band at one point but he refused.

If you are referring to my response to the Harps Deadhead graphic Ric Griffin and Stanley Mouse were/are/is very well known psychedelic poster art artists who collaborated on some very iconic pieces. Two of which were just posted. Most when they view the Lightening bolt Skull immediately recognize it as a symbol for the Grateful Dead. The "Flying Eyeball" is the most Expensive Fillmore poster that can be purchased in a first printing. The last sold was auctioned at Sotheby's in London for $18,550. Ric Griffen and Stanley Mouse produced both drawings together and became quite well known. Sterling Moss the famous formula 1 race driver was well known for using the lightening bolt skull on all of his cars in one fashion or another thus raising the artists notoriety and popularity around the world. I really hope I have this correct or I have just caused a unnecessary very painful cramp in my stylus hand. Finally the only way one can purchase a authentic Flying Eyeball today is throughthe Ric Griffen gallery.
I love Fillmore history. It has such a rich cast of Characters.

I've never heard of Lewd Lewitt before. Where are they made? I see they are designed in Austria, but I am most interested in the diaphram capsules, in particular.
I believe in China. The designers are fanatics, the quality is there. Others have copied their innovation. I like the LCT640TS but it does way more than a standard mic.

They have Formula E which is electric cars, 220km/hr in city streets. I saw a bit of one and left scratching my head, it's just nuts.

Yup, I've slowed down considerable in my old age, still like the motorhead cars though. Got a sick one at home.

Hawthorne hints in his patter that it gets pretty hairy in places coming up on slower race entrants at speed. He would know.
There was one place where he got in the left hand lane to go around a big left hand curve and there is no way he could have seen what was around that corner, i was thinking what if some kid was on a bike in the middle of the road.
Now that's a real toughy. I am going to have to give this some thought. Hmmmm. Can Jackie Stuart be on this list also? Hmmmm.
