Friday On My Mind

The band hails from Germany. Watching their video of California Dreaming where the bass covers the flute part inspires me to want to take up the double bass. Herr Schreiber is a talented bass player, he plays with an orchestra and has rock’n’pop side projects.

I first learned of this band in the mid '00s; very cool stuff!

Does the kitchen ever look nice! It brings back memories, my grandparents had a similar sink, it was double basin white marble that dated back to the 1800’s.

I used to carve soapstone, inspired by native artists. The fine dust is talc. It was a lot softer than marble.

Neither of those are our kitchen, just some inspiring examples I came across while designing ours. Here's ours:

The carving variety of soapstone is much softer than that used for countertops, fireplaces, ovens, etc., but it is still softer than, say, granite, but doesn't require repeated sealing, and doesn't stain like granite or, especially, marble, for example.

The porch would be a nice recording space. And here I was wondering if the closet was an instrument locker.

Shhhhhh! I haven't mentioned that to the SO, yet!

I never understood why they needed a room for a sonic shower. Couldn’t they just beam the dirt off?

I see the resemblance in what you implemented for the kitchen. Very nice. Like the crapper style valves and sink. Good color choice. I was wondering how you managed to fit that big kitchen in your house. Unless you have a tardis.

I have a couple of those KitchenAid mixers. A big one for bread and a little one for things that I shouldn’t eat. They last forever.

I’ve carved both types of soapstone. One was a bench in a laboratory that I once worked in. It was, well rock hard. Very dark as well. It could withstand hits as well as chemical acid and base spills. The carving block that I used was softer but still tough to work with hand tools.

I must look like a mark. My wife and I were on our way to buy a backpack when two old looking hussies approached us. I saw them from a way back and said, stand back, you never know what you’ll catch.

Turns out that the pair wanted money to go on a vacation. Now I’ve been asked for change for food, coffee, drugs, booze and beer, but a vacation was a new one.

That's a Chicago Faucets faucet. We used to have a smaller version in the kitchen before the reno; it is in a box for possible future use for a second bathroom, someday. Very old, but still works great, and the cartridges are readily available, so no problems with replacements, if needed.

I have a couple of those KitchenAid mixers. A big one for bread and a little one for things that I shouldn’t eat. They last forever.

My BIL had huge, industrial Hobarts, similar to the KitchenAid mixers in basic design, for the bakery. They are great tools for making the essentials that keep us fed!

I recognized most of the restaurants on the map....except for the one shown in MY state....Michigan.
I checked for the closest Jolibee to where I live (500 mile range) and the closest one is in Stokie, IL. The second closest (from east side of the state) is Mississauga ON.

Agreed, I’m from Michigan. Never heard of Jollibee!

Looking it up, Jollibee is is a Filipino based multinational with 1200 outlets wordwide. They sell fried chicken, hot dogs, spaghetti, a little of everything.

Maybe they were bringing american comfort food to the prople of the Philippines. Then they brought it back to North America for those asking for it. Kind of like the Beatles did with their cover songs.

All I know, I’m going to Wendy’s tomorrow for the first time in six months. I’ve been loosing weight in isolation. I hope that the police checkpoints are down.

I can honestly say I've never darkened the doors of a D&B. Krispy Kreme is a whole nuther story.

Most Chicago faucets will accept Moen parts.
