Very cool catch, there, Stereo! The wolf appears beyond the perched seagull at about 12:05:13. He just watches the upstream bear catch a salmon in mid air at about 12:06:20! Then, the bear turns his back to the wolf to eat his catch and the wolf takes that opportunity to get out on the precipice to catch his own meal. The bear finishes his fish then turns and quickly catches another at about 12:08:09 and again turns away from the wolf to eat it. Then the wolf catches one at about 12:08:20 and he runs it back into the woods to enjoy.

Meanwhile, the bear catches another at about 12:09:20 and this time turns toward the wolf's side of the stream to eat it. So, when the wolf returns for more at about 12:11:58 then the bear sees him! The wolf freezes in place as the bear calmly lumbers across the current in his direction to let this invader know that he's not welcome at this table. The wolf seems to hope he'll be allowed to stay, but does very reluctantly leave at about 12:13:05. The bear then takes up the wolf's succesful fishing spot, presumably just to keep the wolf away, since there are obviously many more airborne fish back at his own successful spot.

Ya, I’ve learned they only eat the parts with the most fat/calories. Prepping for hibernation.

Yup! I think I read read they eat about 75 lbs a day. If my memory serves me.
I go to this site every year it’s a great pastime in between web surfing. In the spring, I visit eagle nests on line.

It is déclassé to use soy sauce and wasabi with salmon. Salmon is served with narrow slices of lemon. This from a master old school sushi chef in Princeton who learned me the zen of Japanese dining. Salmon would also be one of the last courses. A proper Japanese dinner in the presence of a master is a profound and joyous experience.

The problem, once one reaches sushi enlightenment, is the desire to do it again. And so it begins. What was once the preferred high of Hollywood types is now available in minimarts and corner shops.

I watch it quite a bit. Make you appreciate the things that go on in the world.

It's amazing that enough people watch it and know the individual names given to the bears...in the comments blog.

Probably uppers helping them fly upstream. Medications that people pee winds up in the waterways. Anti-depressants are a particular problem.

Worms like raw fish. I hate it when they are invited to the table. Lemon and lime juice help to ‘cook‘ sushi.

I recently tried basmati rice. Nice grain and texture. It’s become a new favourite. The key in preparing it is to rinse it well to remove excess starch.

Basmati is nice. We eat a lot of rice here, and I can see five different kinds on our shelf...long grain brown, long grain white, basmati, arborio, and wild. I love the aroma of the basmati.
