It don’t come easy, a Ringo song. Peter wears a hat when plying bass. For some reason, many bass players feel the need to do that. He played acoustic guitar with George Harrison on the All Things Must Pass album. George wanted someone in there with him when laying down the basic tracks. They jammed a lot, playing everything they could think of. A fond memory for Peter.

I remember that name being in the news a lot back before I ever really listened to the news! In fact, I just now thought he was a newscaster, but Google set me straight.
The quexxion is: Did he ever "nab it" after everybody telling him to? If so, what did he nab?

Right, made the Dag Hammarskjold connection after a brief detour through some neural pathways where I saw a copy of Thor Heyerdahl's Kon-Tiki. That means I was five years old.
Dag nab-it is a way of saying gall darn it, etc. without sinning. I would argue that the intent was there in the mind without actually saying the words.
U Thant was mentioned in the movie, he took over from Dag Hammarskjold as secretary general after Dag died in a plane crash while travelling on a diplomatic mission.

My mother taught me swear words carry a very strong effect (especially from a girl). Save it for when you really mean it, she told me.

That my father may have been surprised at the lexical gift that lead to my mother's imparted wisdom is a farcical notion. I learned every single word, and how to use each of them, from him.
There was a time that not mastering the social graces was an indication that an individual was not raised in fine society. A young lady lacking in these graces would never become a debutant.
