Mark of a GOF right there ^

A tactic that goes back to at least dial telephones. Not really sure how I ever lived through those times of taking a call without the slightest idea who is ringing.

Many a kid was broken into the system with cold door-to-door commission sales. Once it was cosmetics, and now it's solar panels.

Some people catch on later than others, a friend of mine called me maybe 15 years ago ago, I picked up the phone and said "Hi Mike"...shocked silence followed then he said "How did you know it was me?" I couldn't stop laughing and asked him if he had ever heard of caller ID. I don't remember what he said but evidently not.

They bothered me for awhile. I answered the door mostly sans garments and invited them in for a beer. They stopped bothering me.
We had a 'friend' who'd answer the door in "el buffo"-keeping a certain area behind the door-wearing his pentagram. They stopped knocking.

Most women. Imagine meeting Large Marge.

And now for something completely different: You'd mentioned maybe getting a SS to leave at one of your residences. This just came out. $180 USD. https://www.musiciansfriend.com/bass/squier-mini-precision-bass

What I'm thinkerating is something to mark the completion of Ari's course come October. The G&L Tribute Fallout and Sterling by MM Stingray lead the pack. Two marks in the debit column for the G&L for no offerings in blue and a four-in-line headstock. Two marks in the gains column for the MFD with the OMG switch, and the "I'm giving someone who griefed us with a lawsuit a finger if the headstock is turned upside down." Also the saddlelock bridge, so it's G&L by a hair.

The Stingray shortie would be instantly familiar and comes in powder blue with a mother-of-toilet-seat pickguard, so it's a draw.

A 2+2 headstock is what always looks right to me on a bass. Hagstrom Swede might be a bit hard to find.

Looks like someone here likes humbuckers.

My total experience with a jazz bass can be summed as "tones that don't feel organic to me". That's not to say they are, or aren't. Took me a crazy long time to dial in something. There's the Mustang and it's four-in-line headstock <yawn> but I kind of like the vintage split pickups. A little. Me no like the PJ. I mean, the very first thing I'd do is tear out the J and drop in something humbucking.

The other route, long entertained, is the Gretsch Jr. Jet on a rolling upgrade path. TV Jones, Gotoh, and it would always feel to me like fitting a Rolls Royce grille on a VW Bug.

Yeah. Who'd do that?

A lot of tree damage was evident this morning.
Always better to have just tree damage as opposed to house or car damage from storms or trees...albeit any combination can be expensive as well as inconvenient. I hope it's a safe and easy clean up.
