Picture this, it's around 1975. I'm driving around Miami in my un-air conditioned 69 Ford van with the 1712 Overture blaring to the point of shaking the windows and people looking at the 'hippy freak' and wondering wuttinahell is he listening to.

I saw The Who with my late friend Eddy at the Coliseum in Seattle. Before the show, we were at the Edgewater lurking about because we heard the Who were staying there. Pete was in the lounge ordering a drink! We walked up to him and said hi. Eddy, my friend who couldn't keep his thoughts from rolling off his tongue, said, "Pete, I like you a lot better without the beard. Compliments your face and you look younger." Pete smiled and we left, my tail dragging between my legs. That night, at the concert, Pet showed up on stage barefaced! He shaved his beard. My near not so close brush with fame.
EDIT: I never forgot that he had a triple double stack of Hiwatt amps and the sound was incredible. I've had a crush on Hiwatts ever since.
I had a brush with fame that involved Pete but I like yours better. So I will leave it at that.

There's an Abbot and Costello routine lurking there.
If it wasn’t for Pete Townshend there may not have been Marshall Amplification. Marshall was an accomplished drummer. He was also an electrical engineer who build amps. He sold drums and guitars and built speaker and PA cabinets in his garage. He also taught about 65 students how to play the drums every week. One of his students was Mitch Mitchell who played with Jimi Hendrix. Other students to went on to play in well known groups as well.
Marshall played with Pete Townshend’s father, also a musician. He knew Pete from when he was a baby. Pete used to bring his gear in to Marshall’s music store for repair. He and others wanted louder and dirtier sounding amps. Marshall took the idea and ran with it. His prototype amp is in the Marshall museum. It used two 50W output transformers. They didn’t have a 100W one. In trying to go big, he also built a 812 cabinet to go with the amp for Pete. It was a handful to manage so he cut it down to two 412 cabinets.
James Marshall Hendrix and Jim Marshall were introduced and hit it off. Jimi adopted Marshall amps. Jimi and Pete spread the word about Marshall amps. The rest was dumb luck and history.

A coupla comics did a version of that routine about a concert featuring; "Who", "Guess Who", and "Yes"
Yeah, thet may have been Second City. Pretty funny it was. There was a bad copy up on YouTube, I haven't checked recently.
IIRC, "Squiggy" from Laverne & Shirley was one of them.
OK, reporting...all extremities present, if not totally functional. Spent the weekend doing parrot stuff...intakes, adoptions, and the usual chores. Physically, it sucks to be old. However, when I look out my window at the world as she is, I'm really glad I'm old. I keep thinking of the class that The Mock Turtle had....Uglification. Time was, we thought that if everyone just had good will, we could fix the world. Wow.
Covid and carpet cleaning.
I’ve been wanting to clean the carpets, then covid hit. The places that have machines all stopped renting them. They recently started renting them again, there was a long line of people waiting. I finally managed to get one last night, they only allow you to have it for two days. Took some time off to clean.
Of course, it’s really raining today. It’s like a sauna in my place with the machine going. Got five fans and the air conditioning running but it’s drying slowly. Wet of not, by the end of the day things need to go back into place to make room for tomorrow’s areas.
Bouncing things around is draining my strength. That’s life I suppose.
