Yorkshire pudding is divine. Turkey is ... typically passed by whenever possible. My signature holiday dish is scalloped oysters. And what's kind of nice at the holiday table are flutes of champagne and a splash of cranberry juice, and a fresh cranberry.

Celtic lore holds The Morrighan was famous for her cooking. (Yes, there is a relationship with me and The Morrighan, for that is my middle name. Which you knew.)

An antique patina won’t stand up well.
There really isn't anything that would be considered patina. This one's nothing special, just something to hold curtains up with.
Not really sure why all the fuss once about OBEs. Unclear to me if there are more who want out of here than want in there, or how many just want to come here to be out of there?
I can't tell if you are talking about an Outer Body Experience, or the Order of the British Empire, here. :D
...fear would take over and drive us nuts.
I've know a couple of people over the years that fit that description.

I would never try that. Sounds positively revolting.
How about a great fresh turkey dinner from seven years ago?

...stuffing, it’s the best part.

For me, turkey on Thanksgiving, if that's what's served, and not again until next year. No leftovers. Once a year is enough, and I especially like years when someone decides on a roast or a ham instead.
We've done lasagna and brats for Thanksgiving.

Oysters, to me, are best bbq'd in the half shell, along with garlic butter, until slightly solid.

Oysters are a love 'em/hate 'em dish. I'm firmly in the latter grouping. My dad used to say the bravest man in history was the first one to crack open an erster and sat "That looks good".

They are both about the same so it depends on which is on sale. Aluminum foil and acid will remove rust. The foil is softer than many metals so it won’t scratch them but it is harder than rust so it will abrade it.

To quote:

Drinking soda can contribute not only to this change in color but also to the overall strength of the enamel. Since enamel starts to dissolve at 5.50, anything at that level or closer to zero will certainly do damage, also breaking through to the dentin, which is the next protective layer lying directly beneath the enamel. All the cosmetic dentistry in the world cannot bring back enamel. Once you lose it, your body cannot make any more.

Coca-Cola pH Level
The pH of Coke is 2.52. For reference, this is close to the acidity level in phosphoric and sulfamic acid, which are at a pH level of 2. This is also the same pH as lemons. Therefore, drinking a lot of Coca-Cola will start to take a toll on your teeth.

Pepsi pH Level
There's definitely a lot of debate regarding what's better: Coke or Pepsi. While the taste may be different, the pH levels are extremely close. Pepsi has a pH level of 2.53, which means that it is only a tiny bit less acidic than Coca-Cola.

7UP pH Level
Another popular drink is 7UP. 7UP, despite its green packaging that gives it a more volatile appearance, is actually less acidic than Coke and Pepsi with a pH level of 3.20. However, this is still highly acidic when it comes to your teeth.

Mountain Dew pH Level
Unlike 7UP, which isn't actually green, many would argue that Mountain Dew has a radioactive green color. Despite this, it's on par with 7UP as far as its pH level, which is 3.22. Therefore, it's still less acidic than Coke and Pepsi too.

Sprite pH Level
Sprite is similar to 7UP, but it might be somewhat of a healthier choice of soda compared to others. This is because the Sprite pH level is 3.29.

Dr. Pepper pH Level
Dr. Pepper is up there with Coke and Pepsi in terms of its acidity level. Despite being loved by many, you should think twice before opting for a Dr. Pepper, as the pH level is 2.89. However, this is still less acidic than the similar-tasting cherry Coke, which has the same pH as Coke at 2.52.

Root Beer pH Level
If you want to choose the safest soda, then root beer is your best bet.Root beer has the lowest acidity levels of any other soda, averaging between 4 and 5. A&W root beer has a pH level of 4.75, and Barq's is at 4.47. Root beer is said to be less acidic because it doesn't contain phosphoric or citrus acids and is often not carbonated. This makes it less acidic than some juices. For example, the pH of orange juice is around 3 depending on the brand.

pH Values of Common Beverages and Foods - Nutrients Review

I love seafood with a couple of exceptions:

I’m with @GonePlaid on the oysters.

@alaskaleftybass may disagree with me, but salmon is not on my favs list.
Being an Alaska Native family we grew up eating all sorts of things from the sea. There was a type of vegetation Mom called Indian string beans, and they had that consistency. Tasty, healthy food full of nutrients. As my parents had so many Native friends, year around we'd have lots of different types of seafood, goat, venison, sometimes moose. I ate much better as a child than I do now. I miss some of those delicacies.

My dentist scolds me for drinking soda. She allows me a 12 pack a month! My weakness is Diet Cherry Pepsi. She turned us on to Crystal Light. There's a flavor called Raspberry Tea and it's really refreshing. Counts as Zero everything and is equal to water supposedly. One of the reasons I've kept working longer. I had some bad teeth when I was younger--traveling and no insurance. Now I am getting all the work done that I've needed for a while and my dentist is a real gem and excellent at her job. Smells purdy too! LOL. But no-- not too much soda for me.

Rinse well after drinking soda, or fruit juice, or wine, or tomato sauce, or candy, or anything else you like. There’s a long list, use common sense.

Spotted a special of an oyster BLT at an outdoor café that's open two days a week. Promised myself to come back next Thursday, and of course it was a one-time deal. Ya snooze ya lose. Easy enough to create at home.

I eat considerably better as an adult than as a child. As a kid you get what's put in front of you. As I look at it now through the lens of experience, I see why I decided some foods will never cross my lips again. Learning to cook became a survival tool for me LOL Parents were a bit concerned when I fixed my first batch of garlic soup before I was 15. That's the age other kids struggle to learn to make brownies.

That kind of kid

Doctor said quit the coffee. I've got my coffee at my left now. Oh and I'm kind of hooked on mineral water. First time I tasted it I was so alarmed I called it criminal water.

My current rave is for mapo tofu. It's close to impossible to find it properly made, so I make it. The finished dish comes together with ground lamb, fermented black beans, fresh pepper rings .... Not advisable fare for children, the elderly, or infirm :woot:

This is the most recent batch

NYC should be called The Big Oyster. They literally used to dump barges full or shells in the sea.Going back thousands of years, the natives created mountains of shells. Not just NY but all shorelines around the world. People lived on oysters.

Why Oysters Are Ridiculously Important to the History of New York City

Look what I found in that link

Back in the 1880s, women were not to be unaccompanied in restaurants.

New York the liberal bastion of the free world, eh? :)

I keep my "new" bass as pristine as possible. The 'Ray is going on 42 years. The degradation of the chrome on the bridge was well underway by 82, as was the change to the pickup poles. Seems not to have advanced. EBMM will supply new bolts, saddle accessories, and muting hardware (I asked). I awkwardly added new foam mutes as the originals were petrified bits.

The instrument needs a lot of TLC that's not available to me locally. :meh:

Nothing there that can’t be fixed. Nickel plated hardware such as screws and the jack washer and nut are best replaced. Cleaning tends to remove the plating. The pickup pole pieces can be cleaned, the pickup cover should be protected with something such as low tack painter’s tape. I’d replace the bridge springs, clean the bridge.

In every confidence our local luthiers can handle a few replacement pieces, the issue that concerns me is deeper. The output is far too low. There's something wrong somewhere in there, and I've not the vaguest idea where to begin. Saw a video of repairs to the preamp of a 78 Stingray, so I know it can be done. It can't be done by me, and apparently not by our local help either.

It's worth it to me to put the Ray back in order, even if it doesn't see a lot of play. All my new muscle memory is for the 31 inch fretboard and much narrower string spacing. Sometimes I think the Ray is really too valuable to be out there, but that's what it was made for.
