In every confidence our local luthiers can handle a few replacement pieces, the issue that concerns me is deeper. The output is far too low. There's something wrong somewhere in there, and I've not the vaguest idea where to begin. Saw a video of repairs to the preamp of a 78 Stingray, so I know it can be done. It can't be done by me, and apparently not by our local help either.

It's worth it to me to put the Ray back in order, even if it doesn't see a lot of play. All my new muscle memory is for the 31 inch fretboard and much narrower string spacing. Sometimes I think the Ray is really too valuable to be out there, but that's what it was made for.

I would start by removing the pickups, taking the cover off and seeing how deep the rust has penetrated. Rust can affect the magnetic fields but if it has crept into the windings it is more serious. The insulation can break away and the pickup short. Some attention is needed there just to see. The electronics have to be carefully inspected and cleaned up. Deoxit. Solder joints may be bad.

Yes, it’s best that someone with experience looks at it.

Worth getting an estimate first. Some disassembly to have a look-see and cleaning can be done at home before you take it in.

First thing is to contact EBMM again for the parts. Probably could us a fret dressing and the truss rod worries me. I've got DaD tapes on it, which should be fairly low tension. If I leave it alone, the relief is fine. And I like the tapes So yeah expecting big spacebucks plus shipping.

This was a rusted chromed B15 chassis that I restored with Autosol. There are several good products available. Maybe you don’t want a polished look.

The rod is simply a piece of 3/8"' stock steel, probably didn't look a whole lot different in 1917 than it does now, except for a bit of added rust and scrape marks (it also seems to have been started to be cut shorter at one time in its life as there is a bit of a Slice-O-Matic hack saw groove in it). I cut it down yesterday, from its original 94" to 76", to fit the window we're going to use it on (the existing groove was too short to cut it there).

I keep my "new" bass as pristine as possible.

I was looking at ⅜” aluminium rod at Home Depot last weekend. Much lighter than steel and polishes easily. The longest length they had was 48”. Missed it by that much.

I don’t know about sushi bars. Many must be safe but how do you know. Scandals keep popping up. Tuna that isn’t tuna. High levels of mercury. Cleanliness issues.

Just remembered (big surprise!) Owsley's air acid. What we called it in S.F. back when. Transparent gelatin capsule, coated with Owsley's best on the inside. Wowzers!

I'll spare you the details (I was in the wine business for awhile, and would carry on...), just to say that his reds have the least amount of histamines in them of (almost) any other red. Don't know of any others, but there might be by now. My experience was 15 years ago.

I see what he did, and remarkable given the window of time he had available. There are two serpents in gold instead of the single serpent in the sample. Each creation there is really part of a larger agreement, which makes each one unique to its owner. And I know what my end of the agreement is
